The view from the restaurant is spectacular with a view of the city and the confluence of the Allegheny River and the Monongahela River to form the Ohio River. The food is outstanding and the service excellent. One of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh.

Too many pho paws. Burrata salad had too many flavors, and was overpowered by the Amaretto cookie. Lamb quality was poor, and again too many flavors. Manager turned the air down so low i was cold. L was very uncomfortable as were the other ladies.

Not worth the money. As to view, there is a large free platform next door.

Our dinner club visited this restaurant last week. We had made a reservation early on and were seated at possibly the best table in the place. The view was awesome. The meal was certainly not cheap; about $100/person (which included a bottle of wine). We started with the charcuterie plate and the steak tartare. Both were good (the tartare was excellent). My husband and I both ordered the special of the day (branzini stuffed with shrimp). I was disappointed; it was very bland. We ordered the duck fat fingerlings for the table and they were not worth $8. Just a fried potato. We ordered the madeline (recommended by our waitress) and the millionaire bar for dessert. The second was not worth eating. I thought it to be tasteless. I am glad I went here one time, but I will not be going back again. Not worth the money (even though the employees were very friendly and king).

I last reviewed Altius in 2015, when I gave it a great review. The restaurant is still top-notch, with great views and excellent food and service, albeit at top prices. However, I felt compelled to write another review after a recent visit. I know that bacon is big these days but lots of people don't want it for either health or religious reasons. If you want to try a seafood option but don't want to eat bacon (or prosciutto or chorizo), it's almost impossible to escape it at Altius and your options are annoyingly quite limited. It's in the calamari appetizer (never seen that before), and some of the fish dishes, including the branzino special and the cod (really?). And to take it to extreme, bacon's even in the popcorn they serve when they seat you! I really wanted to try the branzino special but opted for the vegan eggplant rollatini instead, which was excellent.

In any case, I understand having bacon on the menu but in my view it's way overdone.
