“I really wanted to like this restaurant”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

but unfortunately that was not the case. This restaurant is very conveniently located in Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh, within easy walking distance of the cultural district. My husband and I ate there last Sunday evening using a Groupon and were really hoping for a great mexican meal. Instead we had to pay for our chips and salsa (what mexican restaurant charges you for chips and salsa?) and the chips were greasy and tasteless. The guacamole was good as was my entree, the Burrito Cozumel, but my side order of refried beans was so unbelievably salty that it was literally inedible. I'm sorry to say that we will not be visiting this establishment again.

“Old El Paso Out Of a Can”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

The worst Mexican food I ever tasted. The beans were salty, the rice was average at best, the Chile Rellenos tasted like they came out of a can. The total food was not freshly made and tasted like frozen food that was just zapped in the microwave.

“Nice find - just what we wanted”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

Strip district was closed on a Tues night. Drove all over downtown and nothing seemed right. Parked by Market Square to walk around. Sandwiches or overpriced art food. Walked up stairs at Las Velas and it was pretty empty so a little worried. But the worry stopped there. Good food, good view, good value, great service. Waiter was by himself on a slow night but did an amazing job - we waited for nothing. Come in looking for gourmet food and you might be disappointed. Come in hungry looking for good beer, good chips and salsa, and fair prices and you will love it. We did!

“Yummy! Quality of food was great.”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

This place is on the 2nd floor in Market Square. Despite having no outside seating they do have many tables that overlook Market Square. The food was a bit more pricey than other Mexican restaurants int town but it was a higher quality which explains why. The meat in both of our dishes was tender and the veggies were really fresh in the fajitas. The rice was not dry at all and the beans were a perfect consistency. They had a diverse mix of dishes and they also give you the option of Mexican style for many dishes which I like.
