“Never disappoints”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Took a group of twelve and all were pleased. They proved to a Texan that wild boar can be tasty. The buffalo burgers were enjoyed by a very picky eater. The appetizers were great as well as the beer. I enjoyed their dark Pious Monk Dunkel it had no bitter or other after taste.

“Atmosphere - brewery in a church”
Reviewed January 25, 2014

I had been there before and enjoyed it more the first time, maybe it was just the idea of a brewery in a church " yeah grandma, I went to church this weekend...". But this time it was nothing special.

The menu tends toward organic and sustainable, with a lot of options too crunchy or just too bizzarre for my tastes. It was difficult to find anything i really liked this time, so I settled on pizza. White pizza - tons of cheese, strangely thick, but light, brick oven crust. But the mix awn't quite right. The house birch beer was OK, but not memorable. Buffalo wings and French Onion soup also just so so. Beer selection of in-house brews on tap was impressive.

“Most unusual restaurant yet..”
Reviewed January 20, 2014 via mobile

We came here for lunch ironically after coming from church. It was an odd feeling ordering traditional pierogies in a place where the only servers used to be altar boys (back in the day). The food was good and the service friendly. On the way out, I almost bowed toward the beer tanks out of force of habit.

“"Go for the atmosphere..."”
Reviewed January 13, 2014

Church Brew was one of those places I just wanted to experience while in Pittsburgh. I had met several people there and they all pretty much told me, "Go for the atmosphere." So I did. I don't want to be too picky about this place. Honestly, it is truly about the ambience and atmosphere. I mean, when was the last time you had Buffalo Meatloaf with rosemary redskin potato croquettes, braised greens, applewood smoked bacon, garlic chips, and roasted tomato demi-glace --- while at church? Exactly. The food was good, not the best but everything else made up for it.

While there, I just had to try a few of their beers - they brew their own of course. Again, solid beer, no complaints.
