You have to see this one even if you are NOT a beer drinker. Only in Pittsburgh can a Catholic church be preserved, renovated and turned into a brewery and restaurant. The food is decent; the beer is cold; but the views/sight are PRICELESS. Be sure to see the stained glass on the wall facing the street.

I love hanging out here because of the space and atmosphere. They can accommodate larger groups and everyone has a good time. The beer is pretty good but the food could use improvement. Not much for vegetarians.

This brew-pub is in a decommissioned church, and the vats replaced the altar. The service was a little ragged, but the beer and food were good, and the place is a scene. Even though it is large and crowded it is possible to converse with your dining companions

Second time here for a late lunch. This is the first place we stop when we visit Pittsburg - and we stop on our way into the city since we enjoy it so much! Excellent beers on tap - had a Pipe Organ Ale and a Pious Monk Dunkel . Shared the pierogis and a pizza! Got a six pack of the Dunkel for our three day hotel stay.

In all honesty, Church Brew Works has very good food, but it is a place that you visit for the great atmosphere. It's very open, but still manages to be intimate with the low lighting and attentive servers. The beer selection is great and the prices are totally reasonable, and the food is fantastic. Our pierogies were great, as was the bread, and each of our entrees. I got a rotating stout and my waitress was able to tell me all about it before it arrived. I was really happy with my experience, and I will absolutely go back.
