Visited on a Friday night at 5 PM and was able to get a table without any issue. The bar was crowded and the noise level was a bit high but that isn't uncommon for places with open bars and restaurant space. Our server was Rick W and he was very knowledgeable about beer choices and had good recommendations about food choices. They have lots of beers on tap with a good selection of different types (ale, porter, ipa, etc.) so it isn't hard to find something good. We started with a Rocket (arugula) salad and it was plenty big enough to share. We both had the two meatball panini with the arribiatta sauce. The arribiatta is spicy and we both loved the heat and the flavor. My wife had the spicy pork meatballs and I had the chicken meatballs and we each enjoyed them. Three beers (it was happy hour), salad and two panini's later and we paid less than $38. Definitely would recommend this place and will be back again soon.

We popped in for a late (2:00 pm) lunch on a Saturday.....promptly seated but then waited 15 minutes to have our drink and food orders taken. Waiter seemed very unsure of himself, and mumbled something about some staff confusion over 'who' was supposed to be waiting on our table - note to management, do not let patrons sit 15 minutes before ordering, as we were in full view of the front station send someone over and sort it out later who's table it is.

While a 'Vegetarian Meatball' may sound like an oxymoron, these were delicious with the spinach almond pesto sauce. Italian wedding soup very flavorful, were surprised by the chicken in it but it was a good addition. The Escarole and Beans were very tasty, a little heavy on the white beans and the escarole should've been cut into manageable sections, but downed it regardless. Good wine and craft beer listing.

With the brick walls and high ceilings this may be a very loud establishment when crowded, a plus is there are only 2 television sets and they are located in the bar area so you don't have to compete with them while talking.

We think once the serving zones get straightened out, and the servers get a little more training, this place will be on many 'must eat here' lists.

This restaurant is the newly-opened sister restaurant to the already-established Sienna Sulla Piazza in Market Square. The umbrella name is Sienna Mercato with Emporio (meatball shop), Mezzo (wood over pizza), and Il Tetto (rooftop beer garden) falling under it. The latter two were not yet opened when I visited.

Overall review (Bad, OK, Good): Food = Good; Service = OK; Ambience = Good

Food:
Ordered the poutine fries with cheese curds and Sunday's gravy. Not impressive. It's basically a similar dish I've ordered at diners except with a fancy name. However, meatballs were good. They weren't dry but the sauce also helps. Ordered four sliders: 1) Vegetarian w/pork bolognese sauce - the sauce was a tad on the sweet side, 2) Beef w/mushroom gravy - good, not too salty, not too sweet, 3) Pork w/arrabiata sauce - the sauce had a hint of heat which went really well with the meatball, 4) beef with creamy parmesan - the sauce was good.

Service:
The server appeared overwhelmed where it seemed as though it was the server's first waiting gig because the restaurant was not busy. By the time the server came to pour our water, we had enough time to glance at the menu. I posed a question which was answered but in a manner which was rushed as though the server had a more urgent matter to tend. It took a bit for the server to return but when the server did return, the server did not have a pad to write orders so the server left again then came back. We waited for a while for our poutine starter (probably around 30 minutes). When it finally came out, it came out with our sliders. The timing seemed as though the server forgot to place our order and, when realized, told the kitchen to fire our order.

We didn't order to dessert because we didn't want to wait 45 minutes for another dish.

Ambience: Good energy. Wood interior but nicely set up.

TIP: If you want to try various sauces (like we did), order the sliders because the other options allow only one sauce.

I originally posted this under the wrong listing!!!

Went to Emporio for lunch Thursday (2/13/14) and was completely amazed!! We were immediately seated, ordered and had the food within 15 minutes! I had the Bacon Cheeseburger meatball panini, it was the "meatball of the day" with the government cheese. The bread they serve it on is crunchy and perfect for dipping into the side of sauce. The meatballs are good sized and the meal was filling for a decent price. The two people I was with also enjoyed their meals (grinder with spicy pork meatballs and panini with regular meatballs). I saw that they did have cheesy bread on the menu now as well. They also have a very nice looking bar with over 30 beers on tap. I can't wait until the other floors open up at this place!!!
