Alla Famiglia, while in a horrible neighborhood, is fine dining family style. Food is changed daily and is always fresh and delicious. The service is superior to anywhere else in the city! Highly recommended for a special night out! Would choose Alla Famiglia over other higher-priced options in the city (Lemont, Grand Concourse, etc.)

Perhaps our expectations were too high, but this restaurant experience was less enjoyable than we had hoped. Parking attendant perhaps well-meaning, was essentially rude when we decided to park our own vehicle. Ambiance was nice, like something you might see in NYC, and we had hoped that the rest of the meal was excellent. But the strip steak was a lower quality than others we've had in good steakhouses, and the pasta in vodka sauce was nothing too special. It took forever to get our meal, and although the waiter was friendly, he explained that there was a large group eating there that evening, and after a while we thought they had forgotten about us. Seedy neighborhood. Overpriced. I don't think we'll be going back any time soon.

i have been to alla famiglia about half dozen times. the last time was in may...each time it is an absolute treat! i have ordered off the menu as well as asked the chef to deviate. i have sat in the small room behind the kitchen, the upstairs in front of the fireplace and actually in front of the kitchen. my fav is upstairs in front of fireplace...love all the teasers served with bread at the beginning.. if you like a caprese salad, the twist here is yummy. they dont skimp on the basil and sometimes the chef brings in his own garden tomatoes. i havent had too many apps as the food is very rich, but did have the pleasure of trying the fried mozarella..it was one of the most memorable items i have ever tried..so many layers of flavor..highly recommend it... i have had the linguine del mare, i was told the lobster is South African which makes the meat sweeter..it was stunning...escalope of veal...divine with the incredible mushrooms...i wish i could remember more main dishes...also, the side of corkscrew pasta served in the pink vodka sauce is so good and deserves honorable honorable mention!!. there is a huge bowl of parm left on the table to add at any time. wine is fantastic and the tiramisu is wonderful too...this is a must in pittsburgh. havent tried the new location yet

We started with their bread and selection of oils and spreads, which were a disappointment, bread was not fresh but reheated and the toppings bland. We did not let that spoil the experience as what was to follow greatly made up for it. The squid and shrimp starter was light and delicious. The salad excellent and the pasta course sublime, best tomato based sauce we have had in Pittsburgh. The entrees of the sea bass and veal milano magnificent. All topped off with the most decadent tiramisu ever created. Our waiter, John was a wonderful resource and the staff in general very friendly. We left with enough food for another meal.
Our only suggestion would be to make sure you don't get the table we had which was right by the entrance to the second floor and in their main traffic lane.

Enjoyed a revcent dinner at Alla Famiglia with family, everything was very, very good from start to finish....fried cheese, stuffed peppers, salad, pasta, veal and dessert......absolutely no complaints. Service was quite good as well. Be prepared for an expensive meal, prices are not for the budget conscious. Sat on third floor for most recent dinner, would prefer to sit on first floor by kitchen, suggest you make this preference known when making reservation. Would/will recommend Alla Famiglia to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in Pittsburgh.
