“The best bang for your buck in the Burgh”
Reviewed December 21, 2007

The City Grill is by far the best bang for your buck restaurant in Pittsburgh. Paul, the chef/owner, takes his job very seriously and knows how to put together a meal of high quality ingredients for a relatively low price. Their burgers are the best in the city (yes, better than Tessaro's) and their beer is ice cold and fresh. If you are looking for a relaxing environment with a friendly staff and desire to get your money's worth, this is the place to go. It has my highest recommendation.

“Very disappointing food, bad service too!”
Reviewed October 22, 2006

We had read reviews that gave the City Grill high marks for their food, including steak and veal. We placed our order at 7:05 and received our dinner at 8:35. It took the waiter quite some time, apparently, to remember that he forgot to place our dinner order with the kitchen. Although he had walked past us numerous times and brought dinners to others around us that were seated long after we arrived, nothing seemed to register with him. When we finally confronted him, he offered a free appetizer, which we declined. We just wanted our meal, as we had an early flight out the next morning. My veal was cooked properly, but just placed on a plate, very blandly. My husband's steak, said to be Prime, was full of tough, stringy fibers. After dinner, the waiter offered us a free dessert, which we also declined. At no time during this two-hour plus dinner, did the manager come to our table, with explanation, nor apology. The offer of a free appetizer and then dessert was insufficient in any way to compensate for our inconvenience. We were not looking for free food, but would have appreciated the offer to reduce the price of the food we purchased.
