We ate here for my husband's work Christmas party. There were 16 of us. I had the mussels which were served in a large quantity for an appetizer. I had the Parmesan crusted sole which was absolutely delicious. The bread basket had two kinds of bread and was also very good. My husband had the salmon Rockefeller and he said it was excellent. We sat near the piano player who played Christmas carols. Our server was very good and efficient. I can't express enough how beautiful this restaurant is. It's an excellent place for a special dinner. Can't wait to have a return visit.

Our annual Christmas tradition has included dinner at the Grand Concourse for the past 20 years. The monumental venue and fine food and service have been a welcome part of the holiday festivities. .

HOWEVER, This year's event was beyond all doubt, EXTREMELY disappointing. The reservationist, the reception were, to put it lightly: "DIfficult" and not welcoming. The food, especially and the crab-stuffed shrimp were extremely overcooked to the point of being inedible, the accompanying vegetables were cold and the rices and pastas were overcooked as well. MOST annoying, the PIANIST was TOTALLY INAPPROPRIATE for this venue. LOUD and BANGING keyboards is NOT dinner music. A soft piano background music would have set the tone. Instead it was CHAOS to MUSIC. I am very, very sad that your conglomerate has lost touch with the meaning of service and quality at the Grand Concourse.

On the bright side we enjoyed the service of kind soft-spoken table service. A budding professional who should better find another venue to help her to grow in this difficult job.

I hope that others who have seen this grand venue sink to levels of the masses will also inform its owners of the decline. And, that Landry's will bring it back to its previous high quality. A new executive chef and new general manager should be first steps. Oh, of course, a new pianist as well.

This was the first time in a year that our family was together and we wanted to celebrate. Our first clue should have been that we had to yell as the waitress passed us after 40 MINUTES and asked her if she could take our order. Our calamari appetizer arrived 30 minutes later....COLD. We sent it back. We had to ask for bread and were informed that someone had taken all the bread and we would receive ours as soon more came out of the oven. Of course, it never arrived. Our soup and salad arrived and were edible. Nearly an hour later, our entrees arrived. They were placed on a stand near us and left there. Our server, Victoria, was over laughing and flirting at the bar. After 5 minutes, she came over to our table and was shocked that our food was not on our table. She "assumed" that the food runner had served us??? Sea Bass was LUKEWARM, duck was tough and inedible, seafood pasta was in a solid COLD LUMP. The manager, Stephanie, came over to appologize and invited us to please come back so that they could "spoil" us on our next visit. I DON"T THINK SO!!!! Stay away from here, unless if you want to have a $200 bill for terrible food and service.

My third trip to Grand Concourse - and a disappointment. We had a nice table right by the window, with the usual wonderful view of the Pittsburgh skyline.

"New England Clam Chowder" was flour-thickened and not particularly good. Bruschetta and pear/walnut/beet salad were both very good.

Service was extremely slow. Beverage order was taken quickly, but then we waited a long time for entrees. During our meal, we had to ask several times for refills on beverages. One dinner was delivered at room temperature. Granted, I like my food *hot* - but this was not even very warm. We flagged down the server, and the plate was taken away with many apologies.... and returned a few minutes later, piping hot.

Simple dinner, no dessert, almost two hours.

This restaurant is a true Pittsburgh classic... With beautiful old train station, high ceilings and piano music, it's like going back in time. The food is excellent as well. The dinner menu is the perfect mix of luxe cuisine and mainstays, and the brunch cannot be beat (make your own doughnuts)!
