Check out the Water Steps for a fun little free spot to play and/or cool down. The water is chlorinated and we saw kids of all ages enjoying the steps. They are a nice and beautiful place to stop and rest when you’re strolling Northshore along the Allegheny River.

We stayed at a hotel across the street from the water steps so my two kids went back a few times. The steps are right on the riverfront on the North Shore. Great views of the city! The kids enjoyed walking on the water steps in their swimsuits, and parents enjoyed dipping their legs! Be warned- as the day goes on, the trash starts accumulating around the steps. Some people are pigs, and are too lazy to throw their trash in the trash bins I'm not sure if more trash bins would help . I even saw a filled dirty diaper laying on the ground near the steps, and it stayed there until the next day! Disgusting! If it weren't for the trash, it would be 5 Stars.

We never knew this place was here. It's the perfect setting for scenery, taking pictures, watching boats sail by, and tons of fun for kids and really anyone of all ages. Grandparents can even sit on the side and put their feet.

Finally a place to take the kids that is free!

For parking, we parked near the Heinz Stadium and walked over. Maybe a 10 minute walk.

While on the Duck tour our guide pointed this out as we were headed down the river. Couldn't wait to test it out my grandson and daughter. The rock steps have texture so no worries about slipping. Water was clean and felt like bath water. Fun place to visit.
