“"Come one come all"”

Went here with family few days ago with a tip from a friend. Fairly new to Pittsburgh the restaurant is by two college campuses and the Carnegie museums. Yuva interior is really nice and clean, the smell of spices in the air, it's great for people wanting to impress or those looking for good Indian food with an atmosphere to match it. The somosas were crispy and tasty the naan bread was fluffy and airy, all the entrees were skillfully prepared and bursting with flavor. Hope they serve wine in the future.

“Excellent Indian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2012

We walked into the restaurant not knowing what to expect but were delighted with our choice. We eat a lot of Indian food so we could compare to other places we have been.

first of all, the decor is very clean and fresh looking. The walls are all painted cheery yellow & orange colors. There are large photographs of Indian scenes, spices & peopel adorning the walls. the photos are lighted from behind which gives a nice effect. There was a TV with a Bollywood movie playing over the bar; the music level was low and you could choose to ignore the TV if you so desired.

The food was delicious! We ordered papadum (fried lentil crackers) to start and they were light and yummy. I had saag aloo- a creamed spinach with baby potatoes that was divine. My son had a tandoori chicken that was extremely tasty. The service was prompt and adept.

If we lived in Pittsburgh this would be a place I would return to time and time again.

“Good food, service a work in progress”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2012

Stunning interior. Bright, clean lines, uncluttered, for better or worse virtually no ethnique influences in the decor, tables set well appart from each other. Walk up to the door on Craig Street and you expect the Star of India, the name of the restaurant that use to occupy the space; walk in and pan cultural chic leaps out to you.

The food was uniformly delicious. Service was uneven. Teething pains one presumes. With four stars I am probably rounding up because I like the ambiance and food so much and Yuva has a great future if it over comes the service issues. The good news on the service issue is that one of the waiters, not ours, identified the problem, resolved it, and management backed them up. For now consider it a work in progress with a hopeful outlook. We will go back.

“Great Indian food in Oakland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

We used to frequent this place when it was called Star of India, and it remains a favorite. The decor is slightly different now, but there are many familiar faces. We had samosas, garlic naan, and I had the palak aloo. All the ingredients were fresh and the dishes were delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and everything on the menu is very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
