Food was excellent, service was great. Outside eating area is one of the best and most quiet in this area.

This is a lovely restaurant, not far from my house. The food is wonderful, the inside decor is charming, and the attention to detail is very good.

We often have the lobster roll for lunch. The roll is piled high with fresh lobster meat in a mild sauce. You can actually taste the lobster--instead of it being overwhelm with strong bread or sauce. The salads are always fresh, and the vegetables are cooked to perfection. Their menu is varied, with choices to suit anyone.

The service is typically so-so. Sometimes the waitresses are a bit too attentive and linger at table too long, other times especially when the restaurant is busy it's hard to flagged them down.

Now, for the 'BUT'....

The only reason this place isn't one of my favorites is because of the terrible stink bug problem. These horrible little beetles are everywhere--inside and outside the restaurant. The bugs like wooded areas and Andora sits right at the edge of dense vegetation and woods. These are not bugs that like dirty or unkempt places, they are simply a nuisance. And, it's not the restaurant's fault; you just can't get rid of them. That said, it's very disturbing to have them crawl across your table, or land in your lap, or even in the breadbasket. (This is no exaggeration, all three things happened to us as we sat on their patio last Friday.) Other diners must have crushed a few of them, because we could smell the horrible odor. It was not a pleasant experience.

I really don't know what the restaurant can do about the problem--I get stinkbugs in my own house and I haven't found a solution. But to see these little critters inside the restaurant as well as all over the patio is extremely disconcerting. In spite of the delicious food and the otherwise nice atmosphere, we won't be back.

We went to Andora for my wife's birthday dinner. We first sat at the bar for drinks. The bar itself and the bar area are nice and cozy and at the time we were there, it was not crowded and not noisy. The bar was small so that the service was very personal. We then went to the dining room for dinner. I had ono (fish) and she had salmon. Both dishes were excellent. The service was excellent as well. Our server was attentive and never left us waiting and at the same time was not obtrusive. The view from the dining room lets you watch the setting sun and the outdoor dining area below. The ambiance was not perfect but at the same time it was not noisy, nor too hot nor too cold. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the restaurant and the food. They have an excellent dinner menu but be advised there are no burger options, it's all proper dinner items, salads, appetizers, etc.

We had a gift card and went on a Friday night with no reservation. The young hostess was confused as to whether we could get a table without a reservation or if it was ok to eat at the bar.
We ate at the bar so it must have been ok . The seafood apps were very overcooked and dried out. The crab cake should be their signature dish but it was dehydrated. The scallops and rissotto had flavor but were overdone.
The cod with horseradish sauce was flavorless. The flour less chocolate cake was dry and not that good.
Service was ok. The bartender was excellent and knowledgeable but she didnt seem interested in serving the food or "waiting" on us.

I live just 400 metres from Andora, so I really wanted to like it. We visited on a Monday when the restaurant was quiet, and we were given a table in the main room. The decor was pleasant, the waitress was friendly and knowledgable, and the wine was reasonably priced so we were off to a good start. We shared a flatbread for starter - tasty and substantial. The main courses arrived promptly - pork chop with apples and gnocchi with sausage and chicken. Portions were generous but in both cases the level of spicing was tongue-numbingly excessive. It was impossible to enjoy the wine or to appreciate any subtlety in the flavors because I was only conscious of the searing heat. A gentler touch with the spices would make Andora much more appealing. Prices were a little on the high side, presumably because the clientele are mainly wealthy Fox Chapel folk.
