“Just cool”

This tour is just cool. Especially if you're a history buff and/or are fascinated by submarines. Very glad I did this and will probably check it out again. Fascinating.

“The only submarine I have ever been in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

Located at the Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore this little piece of history is a real memory maker. If you have never been in a sub, and you are in the burgh, you really should check out our U S S Requin which has guided tours. It helps to be a small framed person! I sure wouldn't like living in such close quarters.

“Tight but worth the $”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

We stopped by the science ctr but did not have enough time to go through the whole thing so we chose instead to tour the sub. It was $5 per person and worth the cost. Kids were between 9 and 14 years old. Steps getting in and out were steep and small as well as inside it was tight but not enough to freak me out! There are small openings to move from one area to another that you sort of have to step/climb through but easily done. Tour took approx. 20 min. can be longer if you really take your time. If you can't go through, send your kids through...cant get lost & they go in one door & out the other. Photo op on the dock is great for pics. Another good thing? No gift shop at the end :)

“More bang for your buck”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2012

The USS Requin is a part of The Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore of Pittsburgh--You can do both, and an Imax theater all together--or pay separate prices for each--it's a WWII submarine--and you get to tour it--it's still moored in the water and the tower is a weather station--you can't believe how narrow and small our mariner's had it! A great tour and stop for kids in all of it.

“Very interesting!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Its worth the 30 minutes to see a piece of our past and how naval officers and seaman lived in a submarine. If you fear small spaces, this is not for you. I had a hard time believing that 80 crewmen were once on board. It is not often you can see the inside of a submarine, see torpedo bays, and hear the stories of the men who once graced her.
