“Lots of good features”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2014 via mobile

It is a really interesting landscape, in the middle of the city winding thru a hillside. It's not the best zoo I've been to but it has some nice highlights. The aquarium is amazing. The polar bears are really fun to watch. If you have small kids, they will love the play areas. Definitely worth a visit.

“very nice zoo in the middle of a busy city.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

we decided to visit the zoo during our trip to Pittsburgh. I was worried about the price at first ( the national zoo in DC is free) however once we began to walk around we had a great time and it was definitely worth the money. my kids loved the animals and all of the play areas around the zoo. we also loved the aquarium inside the zoo. My daughter was a little disappointed that the giraffe area was under construction and the giraffe was far away but she could still see them. The food at the zoo was actually not bad price wise. we had a wonderful day and will come back for sure!

“Pittsburgh Zoo Has Lots of Babies Born Each Year”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2014

The Pittsburgh Zoo is a small zoo compared with others in the country. It does need a bit of updating, however, the newer exhibits are good. The zoo does have many newborns, including Cheeta's, gorilla's, baby Red Panda and few others. Be prepared for some uphill walking. The zoo also has a very nice "kiddie" section. The Polar Bear exhibit is extremely good.

“Nice But Needs Updating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2014

The Pittsburgh Zoo is far better than it was years ago but I wouldn't call it one of the better zoos in America. The spaces for the animals are bigger and more natural than they used to be but they could use some improvement and expansion. Part of the problem may be the zoo is somewhat land-locked and of course the cost of improvements these days is huge. The PPG Aquarium was a nice addition and adds a lot to the zoo. The Safari Cafe offers the usual cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries and soft drinks. The menu could certainly use a makeover; it needs some alternatives like salads, hummus, yogurt, fresh fruit and other healthy offerings.
It's worth a look and if you don't expect too much, you'll not be disappointed.

“Zoo patron for 25 yrs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014 via mobile

We make a trip every yr and are always delighted with how clean everything is. How wonderful the staff treated my four yr old after she tripped and skined her knee. They gave her a free ice cream she was ticked pink.
