“Great place to visit with young kids”

The zoo was easy to navigate & a good size (not too big & not too small). They have a nice variety of animals & we especially enjoyed the aquarium (my son loved the penguins). Overall a fun place to visit & would recommend to anyone with kids looking for a day trip in Pittsburgh.

“Just Average!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

I've been to many zoos across the nation and aquariums around the world. Pittsburgh's zoo is just 'ok'. Not a bad zoo, just not special or so nice. It is hurt in part because of location and the area available to them. Finding the zoo takes a little effort. Animal areas are fairly nice, lots of ups and downs, not an easy park to navigate if you have any issues walking up or down. I suppose I just feel Pittsburgh could do so much better with their zoo.

“Best aquarium in the east”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I have been everywhere and spent big bucks to see Tampa, Baltimore, DC, Monterey, Seattle, San Diego, Auckland zoos. Pittsburgh has such a fun zoo with outdoor exhibits, polar bears swimming in front and above you, [ask about the deer that jumped into the polar bear pool]. The otters and sharks swim next to you as you go through a glass tunnel. Then it is off to the aquarium which is delightful with marching diving penguins and a trout pond, turtle rescue area, and more sharks. Allow at least an hour just for the aquarium . The Zoo has Elephants and babies, Apes and monkeys, bears, snakes, a large childrens play area. The food in the park is edible and fairly priced. Pittsburgh beats all the other aquariums and the zoo is fun.

“Loved visiting the animals”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

There have been many updates to certain parts of the zoo however it has an overall feel of being dated and needs work; especially teh bear exhibits. The areas that are nice are extraordinary as are the animals...just needs some funding

“Lions and tigers and bears...oh my!”
Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

We went to the zoo on a beautiful fall day in October and really enjoyed it!
The baby rhino and baby elephants were adorable.
It's a small zoo, but has a lot to offer and is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
