“Cool shops and restaurants”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

This is a great little section of Pittsburgh just beyond Carnegie Mellon and Pitt. Some wonderful little restaurants and coffee shops. An up-and-coming hipster hang out.

“One of the great neighborhoods in Pittsburgh”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2012

Pittsburgh is a city of neighborhoods and Squirrel Hill is an example of what all urban neighborhoods should be. A wonderful blend of kitsch, boho, ethnic and family orientation. Stately churches and temples within site of funky boutiques and cafes all in a hilly yet walkable setting.

It's really a place for the locals - there aren't any tourist attractions to speak of unless one is a fan of great neighborhoods or religious architecture. Squirrel Hill is right next to Oakland and Shadyside neighborhoods, though, and is a logical stop for visitors to the University of Pittsburgh or Carnegie-Mellon University.

The drive from Squirrel Hill through Schenley Park into Oakland is very nice - the park is an urban gem and home to Phipps Conservatory and the Carnegie Institute as well as a public golf course.

“Great Stores”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2012

It's fun to visit this part of Pittsburgh, because the stores are fun to go into. Littles has the greatest selection of good shoes! Lots of food and shopping!

“Unique, Fun, upbeat, and creative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2012

Its a nice neighborhood that has a little bit of everything. You can eat a slice of pizza while checking out crystal pendulums and high heels with pistol heels. (I am in LOVE with those shoes now) It kinda has a slight bohemian feel to it. Parking stinks, but that just shows you how much people like the place.
Theres a Jewish community center, small coffee shops with big flavor (and amazing biscotti), walking distance from Frick, book stores, antiques, etc. A lot of good restaurants.
