“Lots of Info”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

The museum is full of information. There are many artifacts that are interesting as well as a film about the history of the fort. Unfortunately, when I went the block house was closed so I can't review that aspect.

“Explore the Pittsburgh area thru several historical periods”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

LOTS to see here, and even tho I spent several hours, ran out of time to see everything. Great exhibits, dioramas, artifacts, and films on frontier settlement, fur trading, French and Indian War, Colonial Period, Revolutionary War in PA. My only complaint is that the layout is somewhat confusing, even with a floor map. It's adjacent to the Ft Pitt Blockhouse, which also merits a visit. On site of Point State Park, and there's a nice fountain and lovely view of the 3 rivers and city skyline. A great value at $5. Accessible by public transportation.

“Might want to avoid the guided tour”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Pretty good museum in a lovely setting. Lots of interesting exhibits that help bring to life the history of the area. You can self-guide through the museum, which will work fine. Or get a guided tour, which delivers more interesting information, but be aware that it's two hours long so don't do it unless you're ready to settle in for the afternoon.

“Good, mall museum”
Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Good museum to see local history. Large enough to see the history go the area and small enough to be done in a relatively short period of time. Wish the last remaining piece of history on the grounds was open when we were there.

“Cool Dioramas”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

This is a small museum but worth a look for the interesting dioramas especially the one of the Fort Pitt trading post. Also covers history of the point's strategic location and history of French and Indian War.
