Owner description: Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and the only thing missing is you. MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, has real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, hammers, nails, a loom, animation station and more. Jump right in, that circuit isn't going to build itself! The Art Studio is calling for your creative energy to design and ink a silkscreen, paint, sculpt clay and create something unique alongside the many working artists who visit. Young ones, you are royalty in the Nursery, a space filled with colors, shapes and textures perfect for your growing minds and bodies. The Attic, Garage and Waterplay (because it's just not fun until your underwear is soaked) round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast. From marching bands, slam poets and cultural traditions to letters that fall from the ceiling and a crawling maze made out of packing tape, our temporary exhibits, performers, programs, artists-in-residence and artwork are particularly awesome too. If we don't hear the protests of departing kids at the end of each day, we're not doing our jobs right.

“Not very impressive”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

This Children's Museum did not give the most bang for its buck. The upstairs room with children's activities was hot and musty. The other activity centers were just plain boring. Our museum in Johnstown is 100 times better than this one. This Children's Museum is smaller than you'd think, especially based on the price. Like the other reviewers that gave poor/average ratings, I am also surprised the reviews are above average. I would not come back and would certainly not fork money for a yearly pass.

“A big hit with the kids”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

You can go over and over again and the kids love it. There is an interactive water feature on the top floor that you must save to last because you are all going to be wet!! But you will love it. A dry shirt might be in order so think of bringing extras with you.

“I'd get a membership if I lived here!!”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

We spent the entire day at the children's museum (10am-5pm) with our kids (5 and 2), there was never a dull moment for any of us.

We started out in the craft area so the kids' paintings would be done by the time we left. We went to the waterplay area after lunch and the kids stayed busy there for a very long time. The dryers they had there were good for drying their hair, but we really let the kids explore as much as they wanted so they were very wet and the dryer wouldn't have been enough to dry them completely.

We brought our lunches and ate at the cafeteria. Parking at their parking lot costs $5. Overall it isn't an expensive day for what you get out of it.

There's so much to do there that if I could I'd take my kids there on a regular basis.
