Owner description: Hi! We're having a great time at Children's Museum of Pittsburgh and the only thing missing is you. MAKESHOP, our tinkering space, has real tools and materials such as wood, sewing machines, hammers, nails, a loom, animation station and more. Jump right in, that circuit isn't going to build itself! The Art Studio is calling for your creative energy to design and ink a silkscreen, paint, sculpt clay and create something unique alongside the many working artists who visit. Young ones, you are royalty in the Nursery, a space filled with colors, shapes and textures perfect for your growing minds and bodies. The Attic, Garage and Waterplay (because it's just not fun until your underwear is soaked) round out the permanent exhibits. But not so fast. From marching bands, slam poets and cultural traditions to letters that fall from the ceiling and a crawling maze made out of packing tape, our temporary exhibits, performers, programs, artists-in-residence and artwork are particularly awesome too. If we don't hear the protests of departing kids at the end of each day, we're not doing our jobs right.

We were driving through PIttsburgh and made a purpose of stopping at the Children's Museum with our two young kids (5 & 1 yrs old). We all had a lot of fun visiting this museum. Spent a couple of hours here, and even stayed to eat lunch in their cafeteria. So many fun and interactive exhibits for all ages. One of the best children's museums we've visited. Especially liked seeing the puppets from Mr Rogers Neighborhood show! You can also see Mr Rogers sweater and sneakers. Lots of fun and definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area and can spare a 2-3 hours.

There is so much to do here. We did not get to do everything. My kids loved the water play and everything that they have for the kids to do. I love the craft room. Gives kids a great chance to create anything that they want. We need to get a membership here.

Took my family here during Christmas vacation. We were all blown away on how AWESOME!! this museum is. Everything was hands on and we enjoyed every exhibit. Never would have thought you could have so much fun in a room made from packing tape! Can't wait to get back and enjoy it again!

My 5 yr old daughter really enjoyed this museum. We have visited many and this is one of our favorites. We were there from 10-5, and she was happily occupied the entire time. There's lots to do and only one exhibit was broken when we visited. That's actually really good. If you visit these types of museum as much as we do, you know what I mean. ;) Also, pretty clean and staff was friendly despite some rude kids 'testing' them.

Café food left a lot to be desired, but it was adequate for filling tummies and no one got sick. Definitely plus. ;) Hot dog and hamburger was ok, spicy black bean burger was good. Fries were wavy stick kind. Got a bottle of soda too. Tab was $19. Egh You can bring your own food to eat there.

We spent the most time in the waterplay area upstairs. Very cool layout. There are waterproof 'aprons' that only kept the front of our daughter dry, though keep in mind we weren't holding her back from 'exploring'. Bring extra clothes and shoes unless you want them barefoot. There are also two hose dryers in that area which was handy but very much in demand.

Admission was steep but worth it for us. $43 which includes $5 parking. There is street parking available but you won't find any if there's a sporting event going on downtown. Hope this helps!
