We ate here last night and had a great meal. The OMG plates are small portions of stuff to put on grilled bread (such as carmelized onions or roasted peppers) large enough for 2. The risotto with mushrooms was good but not great - it would be easy to spruce it up by adding actual mushrooms and not just flakes. The main downside is the noise- there is no dampening to be had. The floors are rustic shellacked plywood. Not a good place for older people. A great place for college and grad students. By the way, it is BYOB.

There's nothing pompous or pretentious about E2, just the best locally sourced ingredients perfectly prepared. The fresh ingredients shine through here and are not covered up by heavy unimaginative sauces. For example, the carrot, beet and cheese appetizers were all simple but exquisite - just grilled or with a little of the best olive oil and pepper. That only works when you start with the best heirloom vegetables and dairy products. We had salads, which were great, so I can't speak from experience about the main courses, though they certainly smelled good! If you can manage to save room for desert, the fruit-based desserts we had were outstanding - again, you can really taste the fresh fruit. If you want to know what real unprocessed freshly grown food should taste like, eat here! The atmosphere is casual but homey - think simple bistro in an old house - and the waitstaff were all hard working and enthusiastic on a very busy rainy Friday night.

Went on Sunday Morning for brunch...it is very small, tight corridors at tables. We had to move the table out into the middle just to get in and out. That being said so worth it. Love this neighborhood! Highland Park is one of the friendlier neighborhoods I've ever been to in Pittsburgh. I lived in the South for 8 years and their hospitality rivaled any southerners! The food at E2 was delicious however the star of the show was the Beignets...I haven't had Beignets this good since I was in France...
