GREAT friendly, accommodating staff ! Unique food preparation and choices. Small portions ( except for the huge ribeye steak for two people). Expensive bar prices and moderately expensive food prices based on the portion size. Noisy, happening atmosphere. Convienent to theater district and parking. Above average .

“Eat before you go, bring a loudspeaker for service, or leave hungry”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

A classic example of how to bate and switch guests. With a name like Meat and Potatoes, I expected no nonsense good food and straightforward unpretentious service. instead received any thing but...
Our server, whose six letter name begins with an A and ends with an n had selective deafness that evening. He was so rushed that he took some of our table's drink orders and abruptly went away to serve another. Repeat calls did not bring him back, I actually had to tug at his sleeve to get his attention! While the appetizer arrived on time (steak tartar with too many seasonings that masked the actual flavor of the beef) it took over an hour for the main courses to arrive. Our server made it a point to avoid the guest tables that were waiting for food assiduously, to the extent that my colleagues cocktail glass remained empty for 20 minutes without him even caring to find out if he wanted another. Again he had to be hailed in order to get the order. Once the food finally arrived the Wagyu beef flat iron was a total disaster. First the beef itself was cold and tasteless and the accompanying sides were a confusion of flavors. The baby carrots were chewy like they had been recooked or reheated few times and the presentation itself left a lot to be desired.
Three recommendations to the management team of this restaurant
1. Do not be greedy to fill every table when you know that the kitchen cannot serve people in a timely manner
2. Simplify your menu so that it is manageable and reflective of quality meats served with tasty sides. You are not equipped to offer haute cuisine so stop pretending as such
3. Get your servers regular hearing tests and if relevant hearing aids- they will serve happier customers as a result

“CRAMPED”
Reviewed June 29, 2014 via mobile

Got seated right away. Small round table for two with close quarters to other guests. Had server named Abaigeal, not rude but not very personable. Food was good, pricing average. We had bone marrow, Kobe corn dog (which was surprisingly delicious!), Caesar salad(awesome and not ordinary), Hanger (not keen on the sauce) and flat iron steak. Overall, ok and forgettable.

“Good food, tables too close”
Reviewed June 26, 2014

Dined here last week with my boyfriend after trying to get reservations for over a month. Got seated immediately, but it then took around 10 minutes for a waitress to come by just to get us water. The tables were so close together that I felt like I was sitting on top of the couple next to us. There was also not enough room for all of our food on the table, so everything felt very pushed together.

Started with appetizers of the fried pickles and the fries with truffle mayo. Both were delicious! Both had great prices as well $5 for pickles and $7 for fries--extremely large sizes as well. For dinner we ordered the hanger steak and the chicken. The steak was seasoned well and tender--would definitely recommend. My chicken came out cold and dry, resulting in me sending it back to the kitchen. Took another 20 minutes to get my new order and by that time I was no longer hungry. No manager, nor the waitress, came to apologize. Chicken was great second time!! Desserts looked yummy and are house-made each night, but we were too full to eat them!

Would definitely return, but would not order the chicken again.

“Pretentious without the food to back it up”
Reviewed June 25, 2014

Took several customers to restaurant. Tried to get a reservation for Monday night. Was told 'No' with no additional info. Went anyway. Hostess was overly snobby and made us wait 10 minutes at desk even though we were the only ones there.

Walked past an entirely empty restaurant (not a single table inside had a customer seated) to get to our table.

Got seated outside at a small round table for 5 people. We were cramped the entire meal.

Food is marginal. If you are going to treat your customers the way they treated us, you better have amazing food you cannot get anywhere else. This is not the case.

Bottom line: snobby and pretentious with marginal food. Will not be going back, even on a expense account.
