“Widely varied exhibits”
Reviewed July 8, 2009

This is an interesting museum with widely varied exhibits. They have a large section on local sports - not just the Pirates and Steelers, but all sorts of other sport too. There are sections on local industries such as glassmaking, and historical artifacts such as a trolley car. It's so widely varied it's hard to describe, but certainly worth a few hours.

“A great look at Pittsburgh's History”
Reviewed April 23, 2009

Spent about 3 hours here in early April 2009. There were many great exhibits on the history of Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh. My favorite exhibits were the ones dealing with Heinz and Glass. Both were really well done. Breezed through the sports museum as it is not my cup of tea but many others will enjoy it. They also had an eclectic collection of pieces relating to the various ethnic groups in Pittsburgh. Very interesting! Spend some time here if you want to learn more about the area.

“Fantastic Historical Pittsburgh Museum”
Reviewed March 14, 2009

If you are from western Pennsylvania or have relatives from the area, the museum will be an incredible array of nostalgia. There is a photographic exhibit about the Greensburg floods, Heinz artifacts, a fantastic exhibit of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. The museum is a gem and not to be missed. As a native of Pittsburgh, I found so much to see and enjoy at the museum.

“Good Place for a Rainy Day”
Reviewed July 9, 2008

While vacationing in Pittsburgh, I took the family to the history museum on a rainy, Sunday afternoon. It was an excellent value for the money. The exhibits were well done and interesting. There are several floors, so it takes a few hours to see the entire museum. This is worth the trip if you are visiting Pittsburgh.
