If you are from western Pennsylvania or have relatives from the area, the museum will be an incredible array of nostalgia. There is a photographic exhibit about the Greensburg floods, Heinz artifacts, a fantastic exhibit of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. The museum is a gem and not to be missed. As a native of Pittsburgh, I found so much to see and enjoy at the museum.

While vacationing in Pittsburgh, I took the family to the history museum on a rainy, Sunday afternoon. It was an excellent value for the money. The exhibits were well done and interesting. There are several floors, so it takes a few hours to see the entire museum. This is worth the trip if you are visiting Pittsburgh.

I didn't visit the entire museum; I only visited the sports museum located inside the center. It takes up two floors and is filled with memorabilia from all sports, including bocce and track. I went with the intention of scoping out Dan Marino stuff and found a few neat items he donated. I'm not a Pittsburgh sports fan, but enjoyed the exhibits, especially those of the Pirates and Steelers. The museum is a great place to spend an hour or two looking at things like Clemente's helmet, Steelers super bowl rings, and Penn State-Pitt pictures. Kids (and adults!) will also enjoy the activities scattered throughout, like the football toss, coloring tables, and bocce ball "court." The museum is located in the Strip District, so you spend the rest of the day shopping and dining.

The Regional History Centre is great place to learn about Western Pennsylvania's history, while also escaping the intense humidity. The Museum contains many exibits including: a sports exibit, Heinz Ketchup, Regional Antiques and Culture, Western Pennsylvania's developent since the beginning of America, and much more. This museum doesn't contain anything particularly exciting, but it is a good place to spend the afternoon.
