“Something for Everyone”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The museum was truly a wonderful experience. My husband is a history fanatic and I loved the history on Heinz products. The museum had a very friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this to all when you get to downtown Pittsburgh.

“Fine Collections with a Focus on Western Pennsylvania”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

This collection of well documented historical artifacts and recreations, aims to interest all audiences. Its rotating exhibits give this museum, at various times, the feel of a sports hall of fame or of a fine art gallery. Excellent for families and people of all ages.

“Library and Archives visit”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Had to pay the $15 admission fee to get to the library and archives section, which doesn't make any sense. If I'd had time to spend with the exhibits, it would been more logical - I heard they are wonderful, but alas, that wasn't the purpose of this visit.

The staff in the Library/Archives section were wonderful. Quickly started searching for the items the might help me in my quest, and continued to be attentive as needed during my short stay.

“Historical Trove for Pittsburgh and Tribute to John Heinz”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

This museum teaches in so many ways. The building itself if housed in a former ice warehouse, steel framed with masonry back up. The structure is left to subtly educate users about old and new construction methods. The history and contributions of Pittsburghers are highlighted in the many displays found on the mezzanine and five floors. Native history, Civil War, technical innovations over the years are featured. The stairways offer incentive to lead a healthy lifestyle with displays and opportunities to earn prizes. Great Hall staging for transportation methods from the conestogas wagon to trolleys to the automobile. Hall is available for booking private functions. Gift shop not bad but could offer more artisan crafts.
