An interesting, eclectic museum focused on local history. Especially loved the fourth floor exhibits on the Heinz company and the history of glassmaking in :Pittsburgh. Two levels of this museum are devoted to an extensive collection of local sports memorabilia. Recommended.

All you ever wanted to know about Pittsburgh, with loads to see in a friendly atmosphere. Kids loved it, with lots of things to play on. And I never knew there was so much history about ketchup.

Very interesting museum depicting all of Pittsburgh history. Most interesting floors are floors 2-4. They include the civil war; major contributors to Pittsburgh; glass industry;slavery and freedom; Heinz and the sports 2 floor exhibit.
Exhibits are not in any order therefore making it confusing which gallery room to enter. Numbering the exhibits would help.
This is a good place to visit on rainy day.

Our children really enjoyed their visit to the museum, and there was sufficient to keep them occupied for an afternoon.

I would not recommend this as the reason to visit Pittsburgh, but it is a great stop on a tour of the city. The Cafe is OK, but I was expecting something linked to Heinz! Combine your entrance with Fort Pitt, and the savings make the visit worthwhile.

Though they have a section on the history of Heinz (did you know they pickled all kinds of things?), this museum is loaded with Americana, especially related to Pittsburgh. We spent a good four hours there and didn't get to see everything. Well worth the price of admission.
