What a wonderful place! The Apollo exhibit, history of Heinz, history of Pennsylvania, the exhibit on Mr Rogers--all very worth taking your time to see. There are other exhibits as well but those grabbed out attention.

We visited the museum on November 6. There is a parking lot at the other side of the road. The entrance fee gives you also access to Fort Pitt. There are 5 floors to visit. If you want to visit them all and read and see everything, you need more than one day. The temporary exhibition about the Apollo 11 mission is very informative. There are even docents who give you more information. The only thing you have to do, is to approach them and ask your question(s).

Going to Heinz History Center is like a pleasant walk down memory lane. Sitting in the streetcar watching footage of Pittsburgh in the 1950's and 60's was like reliving my youth. The sports area highlights many of the Steeler accomplishments. It's a wonderful way to learn about the city and turn back the clock in time.

The history is a true gentleman and should be on everyone's must see list.
There is something for every member of your group.
Right now the Apollo exhibit is in town and excellent.

I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of the exhibits at the Heinz History center. I loved the neighborhood collections, showing off Pittsburgh, including Mr. Rogers Neighborhood sets. The section on the history of the Heinz company was fascinating, and the display of costume designer Ruth E. Carter's work was amazing. I wasn't sure if this would worth a visit, since sports history isn't my thing, but I truly enjoyed it. The story of how slavery and abolition affected western Pennsylvania was worth taking time to visit.

As Pittsburgh transplants, our first visit was an eye opener. This museum has so much to offer, we became members. Their rotating exhibits are interesting and offer something for everyone. Their newest exhibit on the moon landing is a must see. We have been on visits, special exhibits and lectures and have never been disappointed. The building itself is a gem. Don't miss visiting this one, at least once.!

This History museum is a must for people seeking to learn about Pittsburgh's remarkable history without much whitewash. While the genius of the senator's entrepreneurial ancestor is amply on display so too are the connections between Pittsburgh's manufacturers and the slave owning south. The city's important contributions to the abolitionist and civil rights movements is also on display.
