Bunch of shops / cafeterias, restaurants, and vendor stalls. Fun. Located in the former warehouse area. Duly noted: fairly authentic Italian cafe, very inexpensive farmers market with excellent choice of produce and an overall aura of festivity. Nice place to stroll and do nothing.

Trying to kill some time before heading to the airport, we decided to hang out at The Strip for an hour or two. It was not a weekend, so we did not get the full "experience". What we did get was a lovely afternoon of shopping in stores as diverse as any I have ever seen in such a small area. Every ethnicity was represented, and there was no end to the variety of food you could eat at outdoor food stands or curbside restaurants. The one negative thing I did notice, was a tendency for low-priced packaged food items to be "expired", and some of the produce which was wrapped in plastic looked old and not very appetizing. But we had a great time just poking around - and the quesadillas we bought from a street vendor were some of the best we have ever had (even though at $8.00 each they were quite pricey). This area is probably great fun on a weekend when all the activity is at its peak - but it is also a nice diversion on a week day when you really just want to walk around and enjoy a little atmosphere.

We go here any time we visit Pittsburgh. Great selection of restaurants, bars, fresh produce, shops that have any kind of Steeler/Pirate/Penguin merchandise you could need, all on one street. Probably not great to take young children as it is quite busy, but a must to visit if you are a Pittsburgh fan and want the Pittsburgh experience.

The Strip is the place to be in Pittsburgh on a Saturday morning. The best, most fresh savory and sweet foods abound. Every nationality is represented here. Any obscure food you are looking for, you'll find it here. Have a one of a kind brunch here and take fresh flowers home!

From great restaurants and entertainment spots...to fresh produce... a large variety of ethnic treats and import stores...nearly any type of black and gold sports items you could want...street vendors..live music...organic options...cute boutiques...fresh flowers and pastry...speciality shops...great coffee, and all the fresh fish you can imagine. From one end to the other, The Strip has something for everyone! This is one place I always go before leaving Pittsburgh, and usually with a car full of fresh and prepared food goodies and a few unique things I couldn't pass up! It's not a shiny, new shopping experience, but it is authentic and very much a long-standing part of all that it Pittsburgh. Stop down and treat your senses to the diversity you'll find at one of my favorite places...The Strip!
