The Pittsburgh Stip District is the place to go to find specialty ethnic foods, fresh seafood, meats, vegetables, and gifts, etc. The area is always hopping and a place not to miss while in Pittsburgh. Restaurants from 5 star to complete dives, which are very good. Best to visit during the day!

This place is so nice to visit. Great shopping and just a nice place to spend a saturday morning with family and friends. Great food and street venters.

Visiting The Strip (just off of the southern/eastern bank of the Allegheny River) is something we do EVERY time we visit family in Pittsburgh. It is the best place to buy Steelers apparel, and it is the best place to experience a marketplace time warp. There are Italian bakeries, Italian grocery stores (with every Itlaian cheese, pasta, olive, and meat product you could imagine). Many of the items I enjoyed during a trip to Italy, but have not been able to find in the U.S., I found at The Strip. There are a number of other markets (fish, produce, etc.), restaurants known for breakfasts, sandwiches, and other meals. It is a great place to spend a few hours.

It can be a chaotic place, but once you've parked and make your way through the stores and restaurants you'll notice why this place is so attractive. More than excellent grocery stores, you can find some art galleries, historical buildings and decent restaurants.

If I lived in Pittsburgh, this is the only place I'd shop. Wonderful ethnic foods and good restaurants. Could spend hours here.
