Great place to visit in the dead of winter (as we did), especially if you are interested in plants. It is a nice place to walk around for an hour or so.

This greenhouse was built near the turn of the century and is wonderful in its construction. Different rooms have different flowers. There are displays of rain forests, succulents, bonsai, water plants, etc, as well as an outdoor garden. Pleasant place to spend some time and just roam. Orchids are very pretty.

We visited here with family for New Year's Eve. Parking was easy and free in the center designated spots. We ate prior in their dining area and everything was good. The salads were fresh and the peanut butter sandwich was really good. The facility was well cared for and clean. It is the perfect place for any nature enthusiast. We checked out the gift shop and saw some unique items. We will surely visit again and recommend to anyone.

Phipps is wonderful if you don't have exposure to tropical or other plant types. If you have traveled in Arizona or tropical countries, the exhibits are a bit boring as you would have seen so much more. If you have not traveled much in the US or other countries, the collection of plants is fascinating - cocao tree, lemon trees, ferns, orchids, cacti.

My kids took a class there in September and were disappointed that despite it being about tropical treasures, they were shown no real plants (just photos) and never even taken into the tropical plants room. For us (since we travel a lot), it was nice, but not worth the price or a return visit.
