Owner description: Scale Mount Washington in one of two original 1877 cable cars for a fun and unique ride and a breathtaking view of the Pittsburgh skyline when you reach the top of the 400-foot incline. Parking available across the street from our lower station at 1197 West Carson Street.

Visited the Duquesne Incline and parked in the parking lot below the entrance. There were about 40 steps to climb. We only waited about 5 minutes for the car to arrive. The ride on the incline was short - but smooth and the ride was free for seniors and $2.50 for others. The view of the three rivers was awesome with a clear shot of the Steelers stadiulm, The Point, several bridges, the fountin at the point and the view of the city from Mt. Washington all worth the ride. We were hoping to have lunch - unfortunately the places in the area did not open until 5pm. There were snacks available. Recommendations: (1) take your camera and wait until you get to the top to take pictures as there is a protective net on the car windows (2) if you want to have a good meal (a little pricey) - get to the top after 5pm (3) enjoy the ride and make sure you purchase one of the memories from the shop

If you are visiting Pittsburgh for the first time, second time, or even if you live here, you should definitely take a ride on the Duquesne Incline! You will be whisked back in time as you enter a classic-red car. The steep ride to the top is slightly frightening if you have a fear of heights, but once you get to the top, you will find it to be worthwhile. The view of the city from Mt. Washington is breathtaking. Don't forget your camera!

My husband is a 65+, so he rode for free-- making his vertigo a bit more tolerable! We both enjoyed perusing the informative articles and images on display at the top, & I snagged some great photos of the skyline. We went in daytime, but I can imagine a nighttime ride would be stunninng as well... The Duquesne Incline is one of two operating inclines across the river from Pittsburgh; the Mt. Washington Incline doesn't have the historical display, and also looks more like a building moving up & down, missing the historical "trolley" feel of the Duquesne Incline. (Btw, very limited food available-- snacks, pop, water; and bathroom is a port-a-potty down a set of stairs at the bottom.)

Always enjoy a ride on the incline. Great views up and down, and of course -- from the top of Mt. Washington. Be sure to check out the engine room downstairs ... just discovered it after many trips in the past.
