Had a wonderfull time at this place! great food, immaginative menu, excellent service. Chef Brian came to our table and made us feel very much at home. Server (Erica) was efficent, helpful, and a genuinely fun person. Place was nice and lively on a Sunday evening during bad weather.

Pittsburgh has a number of good traditional places to eat. This is a great non traditional place to eat. Best overall meal we had since a trip to the Amalfi Coast 3 years ago.

Do your self a favor, follow the staff recommendations, and have a great unique meal.

“Bad Attitude”
Reviewed January 5, 2011

After anticipating going to this restaurant for some time, my guest and I were disappointed when we arrived for our reservation and were shown to a table only a few steps from the front door that was clearly in the lounge/bar area. Indeed , there were couches right next to us. We were told that that was the most desired table. (Why wasn't there someone sitting there who really wanted it then?) We wanted to be seated in a main dining area. When we asked for another seat, we were told that all tables were fully committed. Yet, they had just accomodated a group that had walked in with a reservation but had less people than they had stated. They had no trouble finding them a different table. We were also told by another staff member that they didn't have that many reservations. This was a weekday and right after the holidays. The coldness and uppity attitude of the hostesses was more upsetting than not getting another table. We left the restaurant and went to Casbah just down the street. The hostess, Amanda, greeted us with open arms and took us to a warm, cozy table right away. Clay, our server, couldn't have been more gracious. All of the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Try Casbah the next time you want to go to Spoon.

“Good value”
Reviewed November 7, 2010

My wife and I recently dined at Spoon on a Friday night. This restaurant replaced the Red Room in East Liberty. The menu is designed to be casual but most items are on the higher end. The food is good, my burger was juicy, cooked to my temperature specification, and only $10. My wife ordered the beef two ways, which was good but the portion was small and the cost ($30) was a bit much. The servers are attentive but not overtly so. Would recommend to someone looking for a good dinner...but be prepared to pay a bit for it.

On our last visit to Pittsburgh, we went to Spoon. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The beignet on the Chocolate 4 Ways dessert was the best chocolate dessert I have ever had. Can't wait to go back!
