I had read alot of great feedback about Spoon....i think its interesting the perceptions one arrives at from the reviews usually is not what the actual representation is..same case here...was different than i expected...nice, but small space...tables very close together, but very varied table seating... deuces, horseshoe booths, 5 person or more tables..we were sat at a very small table for two..almost uncomfortable at first with the close proximity to the other table, but adjusted well after some vino..lol...the service here from valet (arrived in expensive italien sportscar) to the GM was impeccable...the menu is like the space - succinct, small, and crisp... many great varied choices...i chose the duck fat mashed pototoes with short ribs/ny strip..so amazing! o the mixed veggies were soooooo yummy! highly recommend getting a side in addition to meal........i had read about how good the bread was..ehhh - it was okay..nothing to rave about...very, very small portions but spectacular! almost left me wanting more and i usually can barely finish anything at a restaurant! great wine selection, great clientele, great acoustics (not loud) and great, great food! the area is under a boom...my view was across the street, new condos are being redeveloped from dilapidated building...very exciting!

“Nice restaurant in a very enjoyable setting.”

We had a celebration for 10 people. The food was great and something for everyone. The scallops were particularly good. The restaurant was not too loud so it was easy to carry on conversations.

“Pittsburgh's top chef does not disappoint”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

Chef Brian continues to innovate with fresh ideas that take advantage of seasonal offerings. Our party go six had an outstanding experience. Our guest devoured the NY strip and chicken two ways. The heirloom tomatoes may be the best I have ever had. Magnificent. Coupled with nice wine and cocktail pairing, the night was a real treat.
