“Tremendous Location; Easy Access”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

Stayed here for two nights with my wife. Great location between Heinz Field and PNC Park. Can walk to either within two minutes, and the walk along the river is nicely landscaped, clean, and very pleasant with the Pittsburgh skyline immediately in front of you. Downtown Pittsburgh is also an easy, casual walk on a nice evening across the Roberto Clemente bridge.
Rooms were adequately clean and exactly as pictured on web site. Bed was comfortable. Room had a nice big couch with ottoman. Free WiFi. Despite being VERY near the highway, we heard no extraneous noise in the room. Front desk clerk at check in was not the most personable I have ever met, but he took care of everything adequately. We would return.

Great location. Stopped here on the way to MD for a Wounded Warrior Shoot. For some reason, I married a Steelers fan, and I wanted to let her see Heinz field. Other than not getting the room I reserved, was a very nice place. Seems to be fairly new, so the filth and bad things haven't settled in yet. For now, stay here. Room was spacious for the four of us. Staff was helpful. Dropped us off at the "strip" so the wife could get some Steelers crap. Don't go to the stadium gift shop. You'll pay wayyyyy too much for the same junk. The highway is close for your escape out of town. We would stay here again if we make it back to Pitt.

A bunch of us went down to see the Steelers-we booked two rooms. Hotel is LITERALLY a two minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are very well appointed and laid out-plenty of space for our group. Breakfast in the morning was a nice touch. While it is close to the field, it's also a short cab ride from great restaurants and bars. We'll definetely stay here again.

We were traveling through our home town of Pittsburgh for several days. We stayed at this hotel one night to be close to Heinz Field, the football stadium in Pittsburgh. I was so very pleased with the convenience of a hotel which is within walking distance of both stadiums in Pittsburgh, the Rivers Casino and the paved walk way along the river. The entire area is filled with places to have lunch and dinner, and the hotel has a shuttle for trips around the city. The parking was so easy, but it was $18 a day. We parked our car in a private, gated lot that was exclusively for the hotel and within an easy walk to the main door. The outside of the hotel is nicely landscaped with a few tables sitting around. The front desk staff wasn't truly enthusiastic, but they were attentive. However, beside the front desk was a very lovely cafe selling light foods, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks and snacks and was open both morning and night. I was so very surprised that when I asked for silverware to take to the room with our lunch, I was given REAL silverware and a cloth napkin!!! Unheard of unless you are ordering room service. In that same area was the continental breakfast which was presented nicely. The staff in that area was friendly and professional. The tables and chairs were scattered in three rooms and seating was not a problem. The food was fine. During the day there were stacks of apples free to grab for a snack. There is a pool in the hotel, but we did not use it. The room was heavenly. Not extremely large but very well designed. Efficient is the word. The door opened to a coffee, refrigerator area to the left and a desk area in front of that. All in beautiful wood. Opposite was a large L shaped couch with an ottoman, a snack table and large pillows on the couch. We had a wonderful nap there!!! It might have been a pull out...not sure. A large flat screen TV sat on the wall facing both the couch and another room that held the bed and two end tables and had a very large window. That room had a small wall divider that kept the light and noise from the couch area from disturbing those sleeping. The bathroom area was beautiful with a separate room for showering and using the "necessary", and the sink and vanity are separate from the shower room. The shower was huge with large granite tiles and a massaging shower head. Just wonderful for relaxing after traveling. That area had a fan in it which most hotels lack today. The sink was surrounded by a black granite counter, and a closet was in that room. The carpet was a beautiful gold swirl laid in squares. It was just a lovely room. If you do plan on reserving any hotel in that area of Pittsburgh, please be aware that Pittsburgh is a sports town, and the Steelers and Pirates and the University of Pittsburgh all play their games in that area. If are traveling to the North Shore book your hotel very early. Once game day gets near hotel rooms are hard to find! This is an easy area of Pittsburgh to get into and out of using the highways that surround the town.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor and it was perfect. This hotel is surrounded by highway and parking lo...

Our family took a mini vacay to Pittsburgh over labor day weekend. We had no agenda really and therefore location of hotel wasn't a huge concern. Turns out pittsburgh panthers had a home game at heniz field! Cool! Hyatts parking lot is a tailgaters paradise. We were given room 505 and it was fantastic. It's kinda U shaped. Was nice for a family with small children. It had a pullout couch and a separate chase lounge chair. Perfect for sleeping the kids. The king bed was fantastic! Super comfy. The front desk was helpful and the free shuttle within a 3 mile radius was nice. Just a tip we took a taxi once because it was going to be over an hour wait.so make sure during peak hours (dinner). You call ahead. Our room had an amazing view of the bridge and on night of game fireworks filled the sky. Yes 18.oo for parking but that's pretty normal now days. I will comment briefly about air conditioner.....others have commented and we can say yes it's true the air conditioner in the room is a pain in the butt! Loud and either freezing or hot at night. Ps. Starting to wonder if it's just a hyatt thing? We are loyal to Hyatts when available and with the newer buildings it seems to have the same air issues ex:hyatt Clearwater
However we would certainly stay again. And Pittsburgh was a great city!

Breakast good and nice attendants
Location great
Rooms lovely
Free shuttle
Pnc and Heinz field walkable
Casino super close
Small pool
Small gym

Just go!

Room Tip: Room 505 great for families with small kids.

My husband and I spent a few days at Hyatt Place while visiting family. It was completely convenient, clean, and so close to the stadiums. Would definitely stay there again. It seems just a tiny bit expensive, but I guess that is because of the location.

Stayed in the Hyatt Place North Shore for 5 nights for work. The property is new, very modern and much better than I would have expected for the hotel's category. It has a pleasant lobby, a snack counter and an in-house restaurant. Fruit (apples) and newspapers are complementary (but by the cash register - so ask!).

I was surprised how easy it was to get to downtown Pittsburgh from the Hyatt Place. They have a shuttle bus that will take you downtown every 30 minutes - but you have to book in advance. Behind the property is the North Shore connector subway stop that will take you, *for free*, to downtown. The subway runs every 5 or so minutes. It is clean, modern and a very fast way to get downtown. I also walked from downtown Pittsburgh to the Hyatt. It took about 20 minutes from Smithfield and 5th Avenue. There are lots of nice restaurants along the way where you can have/bag dinner.

My room was huge - about 450 sq feet, clean, well appointed and comfortable. I used their complementary Internet service daily, streaming a couple of Netflix shows - with no slow downs or pauses.

I stayed in a room facing the front of the hotel, which I recommend because the back of the hotel is very close to highways 279, 65, 1A, 70B, etc. I suspect road noise would be an issue if you face the back of the property.

The hotel is located between PNC park and Heinz field so you can take in a Pirates or Steelers game. Lots of scalpers looking to sell tickets (although locals tell me that you can get better prices from stubhub.com). Hotel rates can be astronomical when key games are on - simply due to demand from die-hard fans, so book your room well in advance.

Parking for the property is $18/day. It includes in-out privileges and is activated by your room key.

I get to Pittsburgh regularly and look forward to staying again at the Hyatt Place North Shore.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room that faces the front of the building to minimize the risk of highway noise...
