I have stayed two times in this hotel. Given the location, its a good place if you willing to stay outside of the downtown area and drive around. Breakfast bar included, good for a morning up n go. Rooms are comfortable and clean. I will stay here over n over. :)

I have never written a review but feel compelled to do so after our stay here.We traveled from MA to bring a friend who is attending Carnegie Melon this year. After an 11 hour drive the staff was welcoming and very helpful. The room was meticulous. Cannot say enough about this hotel. 3 yrs old according to the front desk. They have maintained it's newness. Suite was as requested for 4 people. Loved the large shower. Quiet night's sleep. Young people happy to use the fitness facility after the long drive. We older ones equally happy to get a 'refreshment' at the bar in the lobby after the long drive. Several restaurant options available in the 'square'. Parking easily accessed, connected to hotel by 'catwalk' and free. Esp liked the carts available for luggage. Large selection of food at breakfast buffet and all very good. Saw staff helping another guest with extras needed for their room and done with a smile. Having stayed in these types (suites) of hotels for many years, this is by far one of the best in terms of cleanliness, service and value!

Room Tip: We had a suite; 2 queen beds with small separate living space with sofa bed, microwave and dormitory...

We stayed at the Springhill Suites at Bakery Square when visiting the University of Pittsburgh this past weekend. Its a quick and easy drive to either Univ of Pittsburgh (PItt) or Carnegie Mellon from the hotel. We got a great rate using a code from the Pitt Admissions Office hotel list. This was our first stay at Springhill Suites and we were impressed. We found the suite spacious and well-laid out. We particularly liked the separated toilet and bathtub and the sliding doors on each room. Breakfast offerings were a bit above the typicial with fresh fruit, salsa/cheese/spinach for the scrambled eggs and both turkey & pork sausage. The hotel is adjacent to a former Nabisco factory that has been rennovated into office space, including Google's Pittsburgh office (Google "Google Pittsburgh" for a virtual tour of the rennovated space.) There's a Panera Bread on the first floor of the hotel and a coffee shop and new restaurant "Social" across a parking lot (free parking for the hotel is in a deck connected to the hotel.) If our son goes to Pitt, we will definitely be back to both Springhill Suites and Social.

I stayed here with my wife after a wedding at the Long Vue Club. In terms of location, you have an LA Fitness right next door which you receive a complimentary pass to if you are a guest at this hotel (major perk!), a local coffee shop, a night scene (Social night club), and Google all within 100 yards. You receive a continental breakfast with your stay (props for the Kashi cereal) and it offers a wide selection for varying tastes.

As for the room, we stayed on the second floor which offered a view of a wall and some pipes (oh well, it's only a view), the suite was moderately sized, styled in what our group came to term "retro Asian-American", and the bed was comfortable. Only noise complaint was some odd flushing sound that occurred regularly in the early morning, it sounded like someone would dump a bucket of ice and then flush it. Other than that it was surprisingly quiet for being just down the hall from the lobby and a lobby bar that the hotel had in place.

I would visit again if the price were better.

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the 2nd floor if you like views

Location, location, location! A bit pricey, but this is the best available lodging located near Squirrel Hill, Shadyside and Oakland. Suites are small, but clean, comfy and quiet. Staff is friendly and informative. Amenities include wifi, hot and cold breakfast, garage parking, small salt-water pool and passes to adjoining fitness center. Highly recommend for business travelers and couples.

Room Tip: Bakery Square has many new shops springing up in this up-and-coming area.

We stayed at this hotel the weekend of August 2nd. We were in Pittsburgh for a school reunion and were very pleased with our stay here. The room was all that we could ask for...clean, quiet and quite comfortable with a great location for us. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was quite good. The only quibble I would have is that the sauteed spinach and salsa (which were wonderful with the scrambled eggs) would have been better if they were warmed. I would definitely stay here again.
