“Wonderful nights stay !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2012

After a harrowing traffic jam before a Pirates game and iffy GPS direction to hotel, we were happily greeted by FREE parking, a welcoming staff and beautiful room for our overnight stay. A bit surprised by the salt water pool at first, but our grandson asked dad if they could put some "spicey stuff" in their pool when back home. Breakfast in morn before our trip to the zoo was great also! Our only disappointment was not being able to get our discount tickets,as supply was down to just 1 at the front desk. This cost us an additional $6 at gate. Wish we could have gotten a voucher for tickets at gate or that the staff had kept better heads up to "tickets on hand". Overall it was a wonderful nights stay, and we would come back.

Lynn B,

Thank you for taking the time to write about us on TripAdvisor. I’m glad to hear that you liked our saltwater pool as well as our delicious breakfast. It’s also nice to hear that you felt our staff was welcoming because we understand many guests arrive tired and weary from their travels. In regards to the discount tickets to the zoo, I apologize for the limited amount available on that particular day. We will look into supplying more for our guests. Please bring your family again to stay with us the next time you’re in Pittsburgh.

Thanks again,
Justin Blair, General Manager

We stayed at the SpringHill Suites Pittsburgh Bakery Square during a visit to Pittsburgh to tour Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, based originally on its proximity to both schools. We were thrilled to discover that not only was this hotel modern, clean and comfortable, but the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful! We were able to park the car at no charge in the on-site garage, and were able to leave it there for the entirety of our stay. The SpringHill Suites Shuttle took us to and from both campuses, and into Pittsburgh for dinner as well--then picked us up when we were done. Both Ed T. and Dale were personable and knowledgable drivers, and had suggestions on what to see and where to eat during our visit. They took all the stress out of getting around the city--a great perk and truly appreciated.

The separate desk and sitting area made the room an inviting space in which to spend some free time. The breakfast in the lobby was very good--eggs, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, bagels, muffins; whatever you might want. There is a sandwich shop and a coffee shop in the adjacent Bakery Square shopping area, and a Panera Bread (under construction during our visit) looks like it will be open soon. We didn't take advantage of the free use of the health club next door or the swimming pool, but it's nice to know they were available.

This was our first visit to Pittsburgh, but it won't be our last! This is a great hotel in a great city, highly recommended. Customer service puts them over the top, and I'd give them more than 5 stars if that was an option. I look forward to our next visit.

This hotel, located in the trendy, newly-revitalized Bakery Square (a block of shops, restaurants, and an Urban Active Fitness), provides clean and appropriately modern accommodations a few blocks from the Oakland colleges, and about 20 minutes from downtown. Front desk staff went out of their way to be nice to guests, really some of the nicest I've dealt with in a while. A room there includes access to Urban Active (connected by a catwalk) for the duration of the stay. That is an excellent and modern gym in its own right, and I was glad to be able to use it instead of the sparse fitness centers often found at hotels of this type. Free breakfast was mediocre, but there were a few hot items and it was free after all, so I'm not complaining. The room itself is laid out a little strangely, the toilet and shower are located in separate rooms (each with a sink thankfully), and neither of the doors to the rooms lock. I didn't have a problem with this, but some might. Room was definitely unique and modern and it has been very clean on two separate occasions. The beds in this hotel are very very firm, as are the pillows. If you like to sleep on a softer mattress/pillows, don't plan on much sleep here (I didn't get much). The hotel loses a star for the beds but it's very nice with great amenities and worth checking out if you're in the area.

Great room and great hotel. the decor is very modern and fun. My kids loved the separation between the living area and the beds in the room. they didn't even want to leave it. Our room faced the bus garage, but we used Marriott points for this trip so I didn't really care. I would request a room facing the square if I went again.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the square otherwise you're looking at the bus depot

Best SpringHill Suites ever! Visiting friends in Highland Park area - new hotel with bright, modern decor and superb rooms. Ample space in living area separated from bedroom by glass panels; frameless glass shower and separate WC featuring sliding pocket doors. Rate includes use of adjacent private, trendy health club. Great breakfast (the usual scrambled eggs were NOT usual but included tomatoes, cheese and spinach). All in all, exceptional!

I have stayed in many hotels in Pittsburgh as I am a frequent visitor. However, this was my first visit to the newly renovated Bakery Square area. Springhill Suites was such a BEAUTIFUL surprise!!!! The rooftop dining was a great place to relax in the early evening or to wake up and have breakfast to begin the day. The rooms were spacious, modern and immaculate! And the best of all is that parking was free!! Where in Pittsburgh can you stay at such a beautiful place and get free parking and a great gym!!!!! Im so impressed and I will return!

Great property in a thriving area being built up with shops and restaurants. Hotel was built in 2010 and has been kept up very well. Rooms were very clean and staff was very courteous and welcoming. Breakfast attendant from Sun-Tues was very nice and was genuinely kind to my children. He had his area stocked and clean and ready for the morning rushes. Please send my thank you once again as he deserves the recognition. Urban Active is attached as the fitness center and a couple late night delivery spots if you get a late craving. Close to Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium ( discount tickets) and complimentary shuttle within 3 miles of property. Only call for concern from me was the listings surrounding areas, seemed a little dangerous at times but should be cleaned up rather soon. Keep up the good work
