We were here a year ago and enjoyed our stay, but felt different this time. Our shower curtain was so dirty that it changed color. One of the pillows did not have a pillow case - and I suspect that not all pillowcases were freshly replaced either. To get the room temperature to 67F degrees (on our own thermometer), we had to position the wall setting at 74F degree. We were told that the quiet-hour starts at 11pm at night. Even if it was a Sunday night, it is common sense for a hotel to acknowledge that most people are here to sleep and not to party. In most hotels, quiet hours starts at 10pm. Perhaps if you want to go to bed earlier than 11pm, you should avoid this place.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Springhill Suites Pittsburgh South Side. I do apologize for the housekeeping issues that you had experienced with us. We will be addressing this issue, as we need to be holding up the Marriott standards of cleanliness. I hope that you enjoyed the local area shopping and restaurants.

The rooms were clean enough, but the place is overpriced. $16 a night extra for parking is highway robbery.
The wifi didn't work at all. It wouldn't even pop up as an option to choose. I called the front desk and they just laughed and told me the internet is spotty.
Extremely loud trains were going by all night. I've stayed in many hotels around Pittsburgh and pretty much all of them would be a better option than this place.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Springhill Suites Pittsburgh South Side. I do apologize that the noise from the train disturbed your stay. On your next visit, please request a room on the riverside that is furthest away from the trains. The parking is a city charge and we are unable to control this. We do thank you for the comments on the cleanliness of the guest rooms and hope that you enjoyed the local area.

Place is clean and right across the street from the river. Definitely spacious enough for a family of 5 with bags and stuff. Staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was standard, cereal, waffles, yogurt, eggs, sausage one day, bacon the next. I do have to say the eggs were good, not overcooked, etc. Pool was small but clean. Hot tub was nice. It is situated between river and railroad tracks- with high end apts on other side of the tracks. Surprisingly, barely heard the train. Location was very close to Southside so you could walk to shopping or dining- probably 15 minutes- there is a nice variety of shops and places to eat. If I was a runner, or had a bike, or had time to rent a bike I would have- it is literally across the street from a bike path along the river and right by the Hot Steel bridge which has a separate bridge for pedestrians/bikers. We did not use free shuttle- but they said it would take you within a certain radius of the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for River side (its further way from the tracks)

This hotel was either brand-new or recently renovated when I was there. But, the neighborhood is on the rise with restaurants and shopping. The hotel has a shuttle to the train, so it is really easy to enjoy the quiet of being outside of downtown and attend sporting events at PNC Park or Heinz Field. Parking is not free. Hotel meets and exceeds all Marriott standards.
