“Not that great anymore!”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

We used to love it here but no longer. We had a nice table outside. Service was so so!!! House wine in carafe was served warm! Told the server and she brought us an ice bucket. The wine obviously never got cool!!!! Duh!! Salad was $18 and was so bad, Belgian endive, a few pieces of blue cheese, a few candied pecans, three cherry tomatoes...that was it!!!! What a rip off!!! The entree.... Pasta with shrimp was not hot, we had no utensils and when we finally got them, the entree was cold!! Bread was delicious fortunately. Table on patio was nice. We will not go back unless things change... Sad because we used to love it. There are too many great places in Pittsburgh to waste our money here!!!

“Paris Poser”
Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

This started out poor and progressed to worse. We arrived at the valet parking area, and no valet; when he did show up, while the passenger side was accessible for exit/entry, the driver is trapped as traffic whizzes by with no space to open the car door. We eventually exited the car, were provided the option we requested for outside seating, and were seated on a back porch overlooking a grubby alley. There are no ceiling fans, but we were seated in front of a standing fan blowing incredibly hard on us. When we requested that the fan be moved or reoriented, it was a major event to do so, and the request was poorly received. I will say that the inside decor of the restaurant could be in Paris, but every part of the exterior is pure backyard alley. That leaves service and food and, as earlier noted, this goes from bad to worse. The service was provided mainly by a young French woman who, perhaps intentionally or perhaps not, made communication an ordeal for anyone not conversant in French. I don't believe we ever fully understood what our food options may have been. We started with a cheese plate appetizer with three cheese samplings. Although reasonably presented, the waitress verbally attacked one of our party who dared to place a touch of Roquefort on her plate first, before the milder cheeses. That was almost enough to exit, but we remained. Three of us ordered the salmon entree, all to be prepared "medium". We received three plates, each with a noticeably varied degree of "doneness". Another entree of a tuna Nicoise Salad included very fishy tuna - quite bad. The one positive was the dessert macaroons available in a broad array of flavors and corresponding colors. If you stick to indoor seating, eat only coffee and macaroons, and walk to the restaurant, you'll do fine.

“Paris in Pittsburgh? Who would have thought?”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

During a brief visit to Pittsburgh, my spouse and I picked this restaurant rather randomly from the internet. What a delightful surprise! Although the exterior certainly doesn't reflect this restaurant's quality, there is no doubt that it offers good solid Parisian quality cuisine. Our French waitress was thoughtful, helpful, and quick (but not too quick). She gave us good wine suggestions. Our meals were delicious. Highly recommend the escargots -- prepared and served in the classic French way. We tried the veal scallopini and the crevettes (shrimp) provencal, and shared with one another. Both entrees were delicious, nicely presented, and appealing. I wish we had a French restaurant of that quality close to home. I'd definitely go back to this place, if I'm ever in Pittsburgh again.

“Great desserts”
Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had drinks and desserts here one rainy afternoon. The restaurant porch is cozy. This restaurant would be a great date place. We had some wine and tried a crepe with banana s and a chocolate sauce, as well as a few macaroons. The crepe was delightful. I am not a huge macaroon person but they were good. I would definitely go back.

“Great first visit, second so-so”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Our first visit here in fall 2013 was a delight. We sat on the heated patio, though it wasn't too cold yet, and enjoyed a delicious, well-served meal in a pleasant atmosphere. The second visit was a completely different experience. First there was the noticeable aroma of garlic--pleasant at first, but it became stronger and seemed nearly a burned smell by the time our dessert came--not pleasant. Our server was not ready for prime time. It took him 15 minutes and a reminder to bring our first glass of wine. We don't like rushed service, but 2 hours and 15 minutes for a simple meal was too much. Food was very good--delicious mussels and perfectly prepared pommes frites, a very nice braised chicken special, tasty cheese plate, and pretty good desserts. Also detracting from the second visit was a very loud, cramped dining room. The server had to lean in to hear our orders and we had a hard time conversing over dinner. The food was good so we will give it one more try before crossing it off the list.
