“Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 21, 2013

We toured the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh and found it very interesting. While there are over 20 of them, you don't need to see them all. Each ethnic group in Pittsburgh funded and (I guess) help design the rooms. Definately an international flair to your visit to Pittsburgh.

“Educational, cultural experience.”

We have visited many times and always amazed at the furnishings, craftsmanship and artwork of these International Rooms in the Catheral of Learning. Our grandson was very impressed that you can attend classes for Pitt in these rooms.

“A unique place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

Nothing like it... functional classrooms, each illustrating designs and/or events from a nation's (or region's) history. On the first floor, rooms built from the 30s through the 50s; on the third, rooms built since the 60s. The rooms are quirky and idosyncratic in design, most are meticulously constructed. There's nothing like it, and I think a must-see.

“Unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

I went to school at Pitt, and the Nationality Rooms are used as classrooms. They aren't just for show. Christmastime is a wonderful time to go, as people of each ethnicity come and decorate their room for the holidays. Either go with a tour guide, or rent the tape recorder. It doesn't cost much, and really fills you in the history of each room!

“Wish I had more time!”

Very interesting and so fascinating. When you walk into the rooms, you don't immediately realize all that went into decorating them. The audio tape for the first floor is well worth the cost. A must see if in Pittsburgh.
