We came here for a night on the town to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The staff were brilliant. They sent us a bottle of wine to the room and we got upgraded to a suite. Also, as part of the weekend getaway, we got free parking and the buffet breakfast. All in all, a GREAT experience for us!

For those unaware, this hotel was a Ramada until somewhat recently, and unfortunately, while the lobby would tell you otherwise (it is very nice), the rooms still generally scream Ramada. With the significant rise in the amount (and quality) hotels in Pittsburgh, this will need to figure out its place, whether that be a low cost alternative or a DoubleTree.

Admittedly, the price we paid is about what I'd expect for the quality we got, but I had hoped it was a great deal for a DoubleTree, which it was not.

The hotel staff at check-in was great including the valet parking person. A lot of hotels have lousy internet service, this one was not and the beds were super comfortable and the location and price just great.

My husband and I stayed at the doubletree for two days. Although I had requested for a corner room at a higher floor beforehand, when I arrived I found out that they weren't available. So Derek (who was very helpful) booked me on a upgrade (which I had opted for beforehand as well) on the 13th floor. I joined the HHonors program so I was surprised to find out that I got the upgrade to a queen suite free of any additional charges - complimentary. Now the trip was good as there were no problems with the room or the services. But they have a YELP offer which says we get a free cookie tin when we check in...but no one at the hotel front desk seemed to know about it....they just went like...'uh we dont know but you can buy one for $10'....needless to say I was a little disappointed as the offer was still on YELP but I felt uncomfortable arguing it as ALL of them claimed to not know anything about it. And the offer stood for this particular hotel so I don't understand how the staff wouldn't know about it. Anyway, the stay was good...nothing exceptional but good.

We checked in on a Sunday afternoon for a NFL game at Heinz Field. The check in was smooth although the hotel was busy because of the game. We had a King Room with a decent view on the 16th floor. The room was clean and comfortable and the bed (a Califonia King) was to die for! The overall room, price and value was awesome and I would stay there again on my next visit to Pittsburgh. The only down side was that the Broncos lost. The Steelers fans in the hotel were fun and into it! Great sports town! The one down side was the restaurant after the game. Not enough help to take care of the guests.

Room tip: Ask for a suite
