Top notch service. Ask for Alan.
Food made as if it was in your own kitchen with local sources and/or made on premise.
You will be a believer and a parking garage across the street for 2 bucks!

Lovely meal in this unexpected spot, in a somewhat downtrodden neighborhood. Traveling with an infant, and staff were great (gave us a larger table in the corner, provided a polenta cake that could serve as baby food). Our meals were delicious--- fresh, seasonal, and well-executed. Both grouper and bluefish were perfectly cooked, with nice fresh accompaniments. Peach frangipane tart melted in your mouth. Would return!

Legume moved from a small 34 seat restaurant to this beautiful new spot. Food is really good, I thought the wine list was a bit small for a restaurant of this caliber. We sat at the back of the room close to the kitchen at it was getting warm! Sit nearer the front where the A/C seems to work better!
Homemade Pork Pate and Babaghanoush were delicious. Pan sauteed airline chicken breast with crispy skin was also really good. We enjoyed our evening.

Overall, this place is very nice, it has an especially nice decor and ambiance. Very good food, and a nice wine and cocktail list. Our only problem with it was that we felt a bit rushed by our waitress and they were pretty bad about timing drinks and food. As soon as our appetizer was removed from our table, our entrees were placed before us and yet it took at least another 15 minutes for them to bring out glasses of wine that we’d ordered to have with our entrees. A fine restaurant really needs good service, and so that mix up didn’t ruin our experience but definitely put a dent in it. Would definitely go back next time in PIttsburgh.

Everything about Legume is just right. It is not a small restaurant, but the way the tables flow in and out of several (very pretty) rooms gives a feeling of intimacy -- and elegance. Every member of the staff we came into contact with was courteous and professional, without being bland. It is clear that this is a place where everyone -- in and out of the kitchen -- shares a passion for good food cooked well. The components of each dish, whether fish, meat, vegetables, greens or fruit, were fresh and of the highest quality -- and put to good use in delicious combination. (My only regret was that goat was not on the menu the night we visited; our daughter had eaten at Legume several months earlier, and told us that this was one of the best dishes she has ever had.) This is a restaurant that every visitor to Pittsburgh must try.
