“Solid hotel if you want to be close to the airport”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

We stayed for two nights here as we wanted to be close to the airport b/c we had a super early return flight. It's about 15 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh - not too bad. It's also very close [2 min drive] to a big shopping center with a movie theater & some restaurants so there are definitely things to do in the area.

What I didn't like was that the room doors were paper thin - you could hear everything in the hallways! I never heard the room next to us through the walls but I could hear the elevator ding & we were like 40 feet away...

Also, breakfast was just ok - there were options but the hot stuff was pretty gross & some of the bread was stale. Still, there were a lot of options so I can't complain too much.

I really liked that there was a huge couch in the room so you had somewhere to sit/ relax other than the bed - it was big enough for 2 people and included a nice throw blanket.

The room was also clean. Not bad overall, would stay again if I had an early flight but definitely a no frills place.

You may have a little problem finding the hotel, its behind Kohls, but once found this hotel is a very nice place to stay. Rooms are good with a nice big 42 inch flat screen, not to many channels to choose from.Bed was very comfortable. Bathrooms are a little small but who spends a lot time in the bathroom and really, who complains about the size of a bathroom. The couch was big and comfortable. The breakfast is good plenty to choose from.Staff is excellent and very helpful.Would stay here again for sure

This trip was for business/visiting friends. The hotel is nice looking, pretty clean, other than I found a hair in the bathroom. Staff were quite friendly and very helpful. I like how the rooms in these hotels are set up with the partition between living and bedroom areas. I didn't really use many of the amenities except for the food. Which was fair at best. I did order from their room menu which is decent but don't expect anything high quality or for them to bring it to your room! You have to go down yourself to pick it up. They call you when it is ready which I really didn't like. Because I like being pampered in hotels! Anyway, I also don't like the breakfast. If you want a place with good food/food service this isn't the place for you. Good tea and coffee served everything else isn't even worth eating. Free parking...and its close to a lot of shopping/malls...walking distance. But its a good 15 minutes or more to downtown it seemed. It was a good stay I've stayed at Hyatt place before and I like the rooms...good place if you don't plan to do anything else but sleep and shower and don't plan to be downtown a lot...unless you don't mind driving.

Overall the hotel was generally nice. Rooms were updated and clean. Bathrooms a bit small though. The rooms had all the amenities that we were looking for, king bed(although very lumpy), sofa bed(with the bar in your back), mini fridge. Breakfast was decent, especially for being free. We found it very relaxing to just take our time before we headed out to the Pitt Zoo for the day. The pool was OK. I mean, its a pool and my kid enjoyed it. The location was pretty good, except that the hotel is located BEHIND Kohl's. And there is really no road to it, you have to drive thru a bumpy parking lot. The service was very good as they met every need we had, from more towels and sheets to taking care of an unfortunate incident with another guest.Otherwise, it fit our needs of being centrally located between the city, zoo and Kennywood amusement park.

Room Tip: Ask for the highest floor possible on the back of the building when you check in. We did and at leas...

We stayed here on a road trip. The free breakfast has lots of choices - the bagels do tend to disappear quickly. Judging from the crowd at breakfast, families, teams, business people and couples all stay here. The room was quiet and the front desk staff was very friendly, remembering us by name throughout the visit. The room could have been vacuumed more thoroughly, we noticed when we first arrived. The next day, we left at 10am and at 3:30 the room was still not cleaned. So housekeeping could be better. But a good stay all in all.

Standard Amerisuites updated and rebranded as a Hyatt Place. My room very clean. Bath redone as shower only (but of course still a bit small). Bedding was very good. Lobby hosting was friendly and way better than average. Thy had an indoor pool which was certainly a surprise. Only complaint was the AC unit was louder than normal, but I suppose that all depends on which room you get. We were just there for a one-night stay before a drive, but I'd stay there again.

Room Tip: You enter through the Hobby Lobby parking lot. Not very obvious. Also right off the Interstate, bu...

Took the family with two small kids here for a vacation to Pittsburgh. The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms had frigs but no freezer. We asked the front desk and every night stored our freezer packs for the cooler for next days adventures (baby good, juice boxes, etc). Not in the heart of the city, but easy to get to and from all the locations we planned on visiting. Plenty of good food locations near by (Quaker steak and lube, joes crab shack, bahama breeze, olive garden, etc) with strip malls and an indoor mall there too (get cupcakes if you go to the mall at Robinson). There is also a drive in on the weekends that I wish we could have gotten to. Back to the hotel, one negative and not a big one was that the breakfast did not really change Tue - Fri. Yogurt, fruit, French toast, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, bagels, toast, etc. kept seeing a pic of waffles in the elevator and so made me want one but never had them. Sat there was a few different options, but still no waffles :) Husband and son went in the pool which was clean. Rooms were clean as well. Disappointed there were no washers/dryers on site (to dry bathing suits from pool). The room we had was 2queens and a pull out. With a family of 4 with kids you need space and this had it and it was a good price to boot.
