Seems to be in a nice part of town and handy for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where I had meetings. The suites are quite spread out so you may need to drag your bags over the road to another building - assistance was offered to me so take it if you need it.

The suite was comfortable and had all the things you might - nice to have the space. The bed was a little uncomfortable at first as it had a sponge like comforter on top of the mattress which made it too soft for me - after a bit of wrestling I took it off and was much more comfortable. Main gripe was noise from adjacent suites - after a long transatlantic journey I was ready for bed early but kept awake by my neighbor's phone conversations through what seem to be paper thin walls.

Great choice of restaurants down Walnut street and a nice (if a little expensive) deli for a DIY breakfast.

Seemed a little pricey at around $170 for the night but on balance I would come back.

Hi JMHGlobetrotter, thanks for staying with us! Many travelling professionals enjoy our proximity to the constellation of University of Pittsburgh Medical Centers, so I'm glad that you also got to explore a bit and visit the dozens of upscale restaurants nearby. You'll be happy to learn that our beds have changed dramatically since your departure: we've upgraded all of our suites from memory foam mattress pads to entirely new "Suite Sleep" pillow-top mattresses. Our staff is obsessed with helping guests, so if you ever need us to move items in your suite or politely encourage your neighbors to be more quiet, please do give us a call and we'll be there in a flash. We're delighted that a globetrotting guest would want to come back, and I hope we'll see you again soon!

This is our favorite place to stay in Pittsburgh. We recently had a two bedroom unit (my mother-in-law was with us). It's so comfortable and convenient to have the apartment setting, with a living room and kitchen and dining area. The Shadyside neighborhood is lovely for early morning or late evening walks, not to mention the great shops and restaurants nearby on Walnut St.

Hi MountainhomeJody, thank you for visiting! Spending time with family certainly feels a lot more natural when you have a living room and kitchen to spread out in, as opposed to the bedroom-only rooms that many chain hotels sell. Shadyside is a charming mix of upscale homes with picturesque gardens and boutique shops with appetizing restaurants. In the mornings or evenings, I'm sure you met a variety of friendly dog-walkers, sleek runners, and fashionable shoppers. Shadyside Inn Suites guests are visiting Pittsburgh for many different reasons, but I hope they all follow your example and take the time to enjoy what Shadyside has to offer!

We had a 2-br so we could bring grandma to our son's graduation. Lovely accommodations. Extremely friendly staff. Goodie bag and M&Ms with Pitt colors were special treats.
Hail to Pitt!

We'll be back next year for daughter's CMU graduation.

Room Tip: Glad we had first floor, since we had an elderly mom with us. Still had some steps.

Hi Ohio_MPM, thank you for staying with us for your son's big day! Pitt and CMU parents are great guests, because they're sure to make the most of the spacious suites and themed goodies we enjoy giving out. If grandma's coming along for your daughter's graduation, we'd love to hear about it when you reserve-- we do everything we can to accommodate step-sensitive guests, which includes recommending suites at one of our buildings with an elevator. We'll look forward to seeing you all next year!

My husband, my sister, and I visited Pittsburgh for a house-hunting trip. Here's why we were impressed.

Amenities: free wi-fi, free parking, clean rooms, well-equipped kitchen, tasteful decor, plenty of space. The "breakfast bag" with muffins, juice, and snacks was a pleasant bonus!

Service: while we'd originally booked a two-bedroom suite for the whole trip, my sister had to leave early. Not only did the staff figure out how we could switch to a smaller and cheaper room mid-trip, they also made sure it was zero hassle for us. For example, they had our bags moved for us while we were out for the day.

Location: an easy walk to Walnut Street, a charming shopping area with restaurants, stores, and a small market. The rest of the neighborhood is shady and beautiful. While 5th Ave (the street the hotel fronts on) is busy, there was no noise in either of the rooms we stayed in.

Value: we paid less for our suite than we would have for two hotel rooms at a much shoddier place. One caveat, though - the more reasonably priced rooms go quickly during graduations and other area events. Plan accordingly!

Dear kleenestar, many thanks for your sweet and thorough review! It's immensely encouraging for us to know that you enjoyed the full range of what Shadyside Inn Suites has to offer, from carefully tended suites to thoughtful front desk service to Walnut Street's commercial charms. It's our pleasure to offer a lot and charge relatively little-- we're locally owned and operated, so nearly every penny you pay at the Shadyside Inn stays right here and goes towards improving our suites and services for your next visit!

We attended our niece's graduation from Pitt this weekend and stayed in a lovely one bedroom suite. Other family members were across the street in a two bedroom suite. Our suite had everything that we needed and then some. We were provided with coffee, juice, muffins, granola bars and popcorn. The rooms were tastefully decorated and quiet. Parking was free. We loved walking in the neighborhood and the shops and restaurants on Walnut Street are great.

Room Tip: The one bedroom that we were in was more like a studio, but with a full kitchen and dining room. It was plenty of room for the two of us.

Hi KathyAllentown_PA, we're pleased as punch that you had a lovely time with us! The suite you reserved actually was one of our Studio Suites at 5426 Fifth Ave, which are indeed different from our One Bedroom Suites. While they're all much more spacious than a normal hotel room, the One Bedroom Suites feature a separate living room with couches, coffee table, HDTV, and more. With the tremendous surge of proud relatives visiting the University of Pittsburgh for graduation, the upscale shops and picturesque homes in flowery Shadyside can be a refreshing change of scenery. Congratulations on your niece's graduation, and I hope you'll come stroll along Walnut Street again soon!
