Found this eatery on line, looked like a place we could watch the Penn State game on TV. GPS could not seem to take us to the correct location. We found a fire house where we asked for help. The folks there agreed that it was hard to explain the directions due to one way streets and volunteered to drive ahead of us to the site. We must say we were impressed with the hospitality of a woman who was attending a birthday party at the fire house! The Retro Eatery is decorated with a black and white tile floor, red furniture, very pleasing. We were interested in watching "the game" and there were many TV screens to do that but also old TV shows for those not into sports. Our server seemed new and unsure of several of our questions but he sought out the answers. He seemed distracted by watching the game himself. I ordered Bruchetta Chicken which came out lukewarm. The flavor was good but greatly impaired by not being served hot. Chicken in the dish was dry. My husband had Bourbon Whiskey NY strip steak. It also was not hot and the potatoes seemed very greasy. A friend had a fried fish dish which he did not complain about. Also another friend had NY stripe steak which was lukewarm. We shared a hot fudge sundae which was good. Cute restaurant but needs help on serving food hot. They had a sign outside BYOB.

Dear Traveler,
I fully read your review and as the manager i regret you were not satisfied with the quality of your meals. I wish it would have been brought to my attention at the time as I and the kitchen manager strive for all our patrons to have a great meal at Retro. I want you to know that i looked up your guest check to identify the server and the staff scheduled in the kit hen at the time of your visit and read them your review and stated how serving food of quality was expected at all times. Thank you for sharing your experience and know that we expect no less from our staff in all areas of Retro- I would like it if you would come to our establishment again so that we can redeem ourselves in your eyes. Ask for a manager so that we can personally apologize and take corrective action on your behalf.

Three of us had a wonderful lunch at Retro Eatery. Loved the 50's decor. The hot roast beef sandwich was delicious. I took home enough for a second meal. Great homemade desserts -- we loved the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Friendly service. We will return!

Good old fashioned comfort food at reasonable prices, in a 50's atmosphere that can't be beat!

We loved everything about this place. The wraps were huge and loaded with taste... Just don't come here if you're counting calories!

The best part was our friendly server, Kara... Good luck at UPenn Indiana!

We (a party of six) were at The Retro on Tuesday, 7/16/13 for lunch. All of us have been there before (my wife & I at least 20 times all together). One person ordered the "dinner" Daily Special Fried Chicken. When it came, there were 3 pieces...one medium sized thigh, and 2 "cocktail-sized" pieces (drumstick and skinny wing). Also, the ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes were cold. The waiter replaced the potatoes, but basically said there was nothing he could do about the chicken, that was the "dinner." We asked again and he said he try to do what he could. Eventually he back with one more medium sized thigh.....it was cold. What REALLY bothers us is that the owner/manager was standing not 15 feet away and never came by to say a word, like we're sorry or sorry this happened or whatever an owner SHOULD say to patrons. The Retro is a great place USUALLY........NOT THIS TIME and its a shame.
