“Totally The Best”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

We were just there last weekend. Do to how far away are we can only visit once a year-but we are so gald we do! My wife and I had a really fun time. Friday it was like the weekend was already here-packed due we guess to good weather. I love the Streakers Bar-you can sit there and have food and beer and whatever-enjoy all the people-talk to everybody-we like finding out where everybody is from-lots of great people! Pool the water was cool and nice. They have Kareoke at the bar which is really quite good. Everyone who sang did it well with a party feel this one old guy sang Johnny Cash so good it made me cry. Saturday they had a band that played quite well at a good sound level. They rocked but didn't over power everyone enjoying themselves in the nude. There is definetly a lot of energy at Sunny Rest! you can get great food all day really at a good price. We had burgers and chicken wings that helped because we were getting a beer buzz all day. We camped up the hill and that was quite interesting. One thing that was good was that once you checked in to the resort they could bill your debit/credit card at the bar, the nightclub, and the restaurant. Great option to have when you're naked! We love the nightclub too-Both nights we were there and it was sexy and rockin. I think people get there late and really party party party. Still things always seem safe and fun-management has done well and every year it gets better and better!

My wife and I have been enjoying Au Natural sunning and swimming for a few years at Gunnison Beach and have been wanting to try a nude resort for some time. Last weekend we decided to make the short trip from the Philly area up to Sunny Rest to see how we would like it.

As we are avid campers, we decided to tent camp for the weekend. I called the resort and they confirmed that no reservation was required for tenting, that we should just show up. I explained that we were coming after work on Friday and they said it was no issue, the office is open until 11:00pm. Well, due to traffic and a late start we did not get there until around 8:00pm, at which point we were pleasantly checked in and given a resort map and a general idea where we could set up. Frankly it was a bit confusing as it was starting to rain and it was after dark and there are no defined "campsites" for tent campers. I basically drove around lost for 20 min or so looking for the tenting areas, and we eventually just stopped the car near a bunch of tents to see if we could find a spot to put up camp. Well, as we were wandering about, trying to figure out a spot a group of folks came over to us and pointed out a great site near them, with a picnic table and fire ring and a nearby place to park when setting up. When we moved the car and started setting up another couple folks came over, set their lantern up in a tree so that we would have better light to set up and helped us get set. This was basically the theme for the entire weekend...VERY friendly, helpful people everywhere who are willing to go out of the way to help and make you feel welcome.

We ended up set up but missed the timing for dinner in the restaurant. At other (traditional) resorts we have been to this would mean that, basically, you are just "out of luck" as far a food is concerned. But here at Sunny Rest, it just meant that the specific "Dinner" items on the menu were not available. We had a great meal of sandwiches and salads that was very tasty and satisfying. The waitress even trekked over to the "Streakers" bar to get me a delicious Dogfish Head 60min. IPA!

After dinner we went and enjoyed the "Conversation Pool" which is a giant hot tub. We talked to even more friendly people and ended up staying there for a few hours. The only downside was that it was quite nippy walking back to the campsite wet and nude!

The next day was more of the same. While walking down to the clubhouse area a woman on a golf cart stopped and gave us a lift. People were amazingly friendly and everyone who worked for the resort went out of their way to make it a great time.

This was one of the best weekends we have ever spent. The atmosphere and just being in the natural state melted away all the stress of a previous long work week.

We are planning on becoming members next season and will certainly be spending more time at Sunny Rest!

My husband and I have been to many naturist resorts and we just loved our first time at Sunny Rest. The area is beautiful, grounds clean and well kept and the pool area is just super. We met up with friends that go there often and just had a blast. People were friendly and ready to talk to strangers. What ever you want you will find it there. Tents, RV's, hotel rooms, singles, families, swingers, good food, quiet nights, disco, pools, hot tub, it's all there and you can chose to do anything or nothing. We had a wonderful time and will return.

Room Tip: We went with our pop-up camper and found the grounds, rest rooms and laundry area to be clean and we...

Sunny Rest is Best!

I have been going to Sunny Rest 3-4 times a year with my girlfriend for 12 years, and I keep coming back.  The tone is live and let live and the atmosphere is friendly, relaxing and FUN.  I have traveled to many other nudist camps and resorts and no doubt Sunny Rest is special, the right blend of camp and resort.
Every year the place gets better.
The location is perfect for the active person, plenty of volleyball, tennis, hiking on site and a hop away from Jim Thorp and the Lehigh Gorge.
I have always enjoyed the friendly people and have come to know many of the regulars.
If you go to Sunny Rest you'll find a lot of people smiling and having fun.  You'll probably get fed and have a beer placed in your hand  by a total stranger. By the end of your stay , you'll have made many, many friends.  So enjoy.

After having read all of the previous reviews of Sunny Rest Resort I have to say "Dang it!" For those who have previously claimed Sunny Rest to be a haven for swingers, I did not witness anything of the kind. I spoke to the office staff about these reviews and heard exactly what I expected, which was, "If there had been any actual offensive behavior, and that behavior had been reported, it would have been dealt with immediately." That is what I would expect from management, given that during our stay we saw people of all ages (babies, adolescence, teens, all the way into the super seniors). For those who claimed to have seen non-family friendly behavior, I have to say wake up from your dreams and look at the reality of this place.

Everything was very clean and upscale. The staff was incredibly professional. The resort is large, 190 acres, 2 pools, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, and walking trails in the woods.
Some friends had told us (more like raved) about Sunny Rest, so we decided to give it a try for my birthday...it was fantastic! the hotel room was clean, pleasant, and up to date. The clubhouse with its disco, pool bar, and restaurant was top notch. The pools, hot tubs, and patios were well maintained, nicely landscaped, and lots of fun. The staff were attentive and friendly. Everyone that worked there went out of their way to remember our names. During the week things were rather subdued, but on the weekend the place came alive. The crowd included plenty of couples around our age (30's).
Some people actually live at Sunny Rest. The residents were very friendly, you see people walking their dogs, working in their yards, and cooking on the grill, just like at home. The only difference is the majority of the people are nude. This is a great place to get a feel for what living in a nudist community would be like, it was great.
The web site needs a little updating, but we found the place better than the pictures posted.
During the week there is an older crowd with the average age of the people in their 50's. We loved the pool next to streakers bar, which they call a conversation pool.
Thursday through Sunday a younger crowd shows up. If you are looking for a lot of activity go Thursday and plan on leaving Sunday.
If you want to give the nude vacation a try, go Monday through Thursday, and you will be able to ease into being nude until you are comfortable. After 15 minutes you forget you are nude and begin to relax. The first time we tried the nude thing we were scared to death. For the first 15 minutes I was afraid that everybody would point and laugh. After a short time you realize that no one really notices you and you feel a little let down. You think - what is wrong with me - nobody even noticed than I am naked. The fact that everybody is nude is why nobody really pays any attention. You will not be the best looking person there and you will not be the worst looking either. Just do it - relax - and enjoy the experience.

We met wonderful people, the residents were friendly, loved the golf cart, loved the pools, had a fabulous time, and we can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Reserve your room way ahead, they book up quickly. Get a golf cart to see the entire property, it...

Sunny Rest Resort has to be the single best find of our lives! We originally found this place in 2003 and have since spent most summer weekends there. We started doing day trips, then camping, have stayed in the motel, and now own a place there.

There are alot of amenities at this Pocono Resort including, but not limited to, a large heated pool, game room, night club, hot tub, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, water volleyball, walking trails, ATV trails, and an excercise room. Since our original visit in 2003 there have been many improvements made to the resort such as paved roads, improved RV sites, a pool side bar, and most recently a heated conversation pool.

The management and support staff of the resort are knowledgeable and friendly. The food is good, the bar prices are reasonable and both are convenient to the pool area. Rest rooms and showers are convenient to the pool area and are clean. There are also clean rest rooms with laundry facilities and showers in the RV area. Activities are planned every weekend - volleyball, dinner shows, boat regatta, tennis, 7K run, etc. The 4th of July fireworks show is spectacular and better than most displays in the area!

The pool area is very relaxing during the day, there is a happy hour every afternoon/evening, and the night club is fun during the late night hours. Dress in the night club ranges from nude to casual to sexy. Music in the night club ranges from slow songs to line dances to head banging and the DJ's seem to recognize what most of the crowd wants.

The people really make the place! We have made a lot of friends there over the years. The crowd ranges from pure nudists to "people wanting to live a bit on the wild side" to swingers. Most seem to get along but there are always those who hate and complain about everything!
We have found it best to just avoid those negative people! Some reviews mention negative's about the resort but having been there for many years I can honestly say that I have never seen any inappropriate activities or drugs in the public areas.

Bottom line is that Sunny Rest is a fun place for the open minded/free spirited. If you want to relax you can, if you want to get a little wild, you can do that as well. If you don't like the relaxing atmosphere around the pool during the day, don't go to the pool. If you don't like the music or the dress at the night club, don't go to the night club. It's as simple as that!

I would highly recommend Sunny Rest Resort to others!

Room Tip: The meadow rooms and rooms around the office are convenient to the pool and night club. The upper m...
