Owner description: Located at the southern reaches of the Laurel Ridge, Ohiopyle State Park encompasses approximately 20,500 acres of rugged natural beauty and serves as the gateway to the Laurel Highlands. Close to major metropolitan areas and offering vast choices of activities. Passing through the heart of the park, the rushing waters of the Youghiogheny River Gorge are the centerpiece for Ohiopyle. The "Yough" provides some of the best whitewater boating in the eastern United States, as well as spectacular scenery. Other activites are biking the Great Allegheny Passage, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, picnicking, horsebacking riding, rock climbing, and hiking.

We went camping at Ohiopyle State Park and had a wonderful time at this park located in the beautiful Laurel Highlands. The park and the immediate area offers activates galore for everyone including camping, hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, fishing, natural waterslides, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water and Kentuck Knob, Fort Necessity National Battlefield and more. The campground itself was a quality state campground with mostly large sites and many trees; our site was very large with electric. The campground also offers shower and bath houses, water, playgrounds, yurts, pet friendly sites and a dump station. If you reserve online, you can view images of the actual sites to help in selection a good site. Ohiopyle is in a surprisingly remote location with a minimum number of stores in the area so be sure to bring what you need. We had a great time and look forward to a return trip in the future.

I go here a lot during the Summer months. Wonderful place and this year I rode horses and it was wonderful. The river running through here is amazing, this history of the area. I go every year for the Buckwheat Festival. Breakfast is awsome at the local community center, sit down, with great food, cheap. Then they have a festival with apple cider making, crafts, home baked goods, etc. Benefit the local fire dept. and community. Visit here and then drive up to Falling Waters to see Frank Lloyd Wright's most significant private home.

I love bicycling and in my opinion Ohiopyle State Park has some of the best trails in America. A lot of people come here for the white water rafting which is terrific but I come here for the bicycling.

If you ever find yourself in the Pittsburg area give Ohiopyle State Park a visit for a memory you'll never forget. This state park is gorgeous!!!!!!!!

Ohiopyle State Park is exceptional if you are there as part of a whitewater kyaking of rafting experience, and also exceptional as part of the experience of the Great Allegany Passage bike trail between Pittsburgh, PA and Cumberland, MD. The park itself offers a nice view of the falls and access to wading in pools and rapids in warm weather, and there is a small reception center and changing rooms for bathers and boaters in the park. It should also be mentioned that it is just minutes away from Falling Waters, the Frank Lloyd Wright architectural treasure (and other of his structures). The small village across from the park has numerous biking and whitewater oufitters, and mostly snacky food places. The Youghegheney river is a trophy trout stream. Downstream, along the hike/bike trail toward Confluence, PA are a number of places offering easy access for the fisherman. That stretch of trail is one of my favorite places in this world.
