This is a free tour, taken in groups of about 12-20 people and is very popular, so book your time slot ahead of your visit. The tour takes about 60 minutes and starts with a interesting short film in the Visitor Center auditorium outlining the history of the Herr's company. Next you are taken to see how the pretzels are made, followed by corn snacks, the packing warehouse and on to the chip production. The guide was very friendly and provided interesting factoids throughout.
Warm potato chips, straight form the production line, were sampled and the tour finished with a couple of free bags of chips as they drop you into the gift shop.
The gift shop has a variety of snack products, including the "oops" line of cheap items, mugs, t-shirts and other paraphernalia. There is a small cafeteria adjoining the shop.
Overall a good visit, which seems popular with younger school trips too.

Fortunately, we checked out Herr's to see when they were open and realized everyone needed reservations in advance. We were luck enough to get reservations for the two of us that same day and ended up being in a group of about 20 people.

The overall FREE tour takes about an hour and you do see how they make the dough for their pretzel products and their various chips and cheese curls. You also take your last stop at the packaging department before going to their store.

The tour has a lot of walking inside and outside three different buildings.

You do get to sample free, hot potato chip that came right off the line..DELICIOUS!

When we were there, they had a bag of about 10+ smaller bags of each of their newest products for under $5. We also saw they had Cotton Candy Balls that looked like Cheese Balls, but with Cotton Candy flavoring...not good...don't bother.

A very nice tour that ends with warm chips right off the assembly line and 2 bags of free samples. It starts with a short movie about the history and then takes you into the real factory. You must make reservations. I called on a Saturday to make reservations for Monday and they actually contacted me on Sunday to confirm. I was very impressed by this. Chipper's cafe has the basics to grab a snack, But there are a variety of chips to buy in the store and you do get the samples at the end. I would recommend this activity for 5 and over. The younger ones were bored and not interested.

This is a large snack factory. They offer nice tours, which I have done three times with different grandchildren. It is an interesting tour and it smells great. There is no way you are leaving this place without eating one of the great snacks they offer. The outlet store is packed full with everything Herr's offers. There are reduced priced "OOPS!" items that I find a great bargain. There is slao Chipper's snack bar for meat and drinks. Definitely check this place out. Do a combo day with Plumpton Park Zoo which is right down 272 to 273 and turn right. Go to Herr's first and stock up for a picnic at the zoo. Combined, it will be great day in 4 to 5 hours. Just enough time for that nap on the way home!! Way to go parents!!

We visit at the start of every school year. We buy boxes of deeply discounted snacks. They have lots of junk food but some are healthy. The factory tour starts with a short movie. The tour features loud machines and the aroma of tons of potatoes frying. This is much shorter than the nearby Harley Davidson tour. I took my elementary school aged nephews and a relative who walks with a cane. It was free and fun. You have never imagined the flavor of potato chips that are still hot from the fryer.
