While staying in Intercourse, we were trying to decide if we should make the 45 minute drive out to Nottingham to Herr's. Both my hubby and I love chips so we decided to make the trip. We are so GLAD we did.

Melissa was our tour guide. She spoke clearly and loudly and answered all of our questions. She was very knowledgeable. At the end of the tour, Melissa went out to the factory floor and brought back a sample of warm, fresh potato chips. Only one word to describe them "YUMMY".

The tour takes you all through the factory so you're able to get a really good idea of how Herr's makes their snack products.

The tour ends at the factory store where they have a variety if products, some that you can't purchase in stores. One of these is the chocolate covered potato chips. We were told that the chocolate comes from Neuchatel Chocolate which just down the road on Highway 10 and well worth a stop as well.

Any of the snack products that are not 100% perfect, are sold as either "Oops" products at a discount or given to the food bank.

All the service staff in the store were friendly and welcoming!

This was definitely a worthwhile stop.

Have wanted to tour this facility on previous visits to the area, and finally set time aside to do so. Arranged for a 2 PM tour and arrived about a half hour before. Cheerfully greeted by a staff member, who checked us in for our tour and invited us to browse some of the exhibits in the reception area, as well as the gift shop prior to the tour. Tour started promptly at 2 PM with a short video relating the history of the Herr's tradition. Then a walking tour began showing the various phases of prepping, making and packaging their products. The production staff that were working on the lines were very congenial as we walked through their areas. A definite highlight of the FREE tour was the tasting of warm potato chips right off the production line, just prior to packaging. Our tour guide donned the appropriate attire, as required by industry standards, and brought out a tray of the freshly made, still warm chips for us to sample. Mm mm! The tour ended with each tour visitor being given 2 free bags of snacks. The gift shop was full of various Herr's products, some of which are either new or in limited production/distribution. There is even a suggestion box to propose new flavors of snacks. Definitely well worth the trip.

My fiance and I visited the factory just to do something. It want my thing but I was pleasantly surprised and found my self glued to the windows on the tour. Being 2 adults we both felt a little funny being there with out a kid but after looking around only 2 families in the group had children so it was reassuring. The tour its self is children friendly and in the tour they give you freash warm chips that are amazing. The whole thing lasted maybe an hour and is free. Deffinately worth the visit!

Touring Herr's Snack Foods is a fun way to spend an hour or so. You get to see production equipment working - not a simulation. And - they give you samples of hot potato chips right off the line. The gift shop is kind of expensive for the souvenirs, but they have snack items that are not found many other places. Total visit time is about 45 minutes to an hour.

A perfect summer-time (or anytime) activity for all! Just schedule your FREE tour through the Herr's website and enjoy! Went on Tuesday August 20th and the place was mobbed! A free 1-hour tour where you can sample hot potato chips right off the line and then receive a sample bag at the end. What more can you ask for?

Herr's also has a gift shop with reduced prices and a cafe on-site, to go along with the tour that includes a 10-minute introductory video in Chipper's Theater. Walking is done inside and outside so go on a somewhat nice day. Perfect for all ages.
