For a local, quick stop in Newtown Square and surrounding areas, the Hot Spot is a good place to go. It's fairly small (about 30 tables) and at lunch time is REALLY crowded, but the service is really fast. Example: as customers get up from their table, the guy with the cart is there to clear, followed immediately by the girl placing the settings. During meals the coffee appears frequently without your begging for it.
The food is good diner fare. It's about what you would expect, but is very well prepared and at normal diner speed. The prices are in the normal diner range. (They have a seniors' club, but you have to join and be a regular to make it work for you.)
So, for diner service, food, and prices, the total effect is a pleasent quick stop. It's also fairly easy to get to, on West Chester Pike with a light right in front that makes turning in and out easy.
A word of warning: the outer vestible isn't heated, so try to avoid the front table and booths. Every time someone goes in or out you will get a blast of outside air. And in winter it gets fairly cold. We ate in our parkas!
