I was looking for a place to take a close friend's elderly mother who recently moved to a retirement community a few miles from the restaurant. This is snobbish of me, but I wasn't expecting much from an Italian restaurant in a shopping center anchored by a super market. What a pleasant surprise Piccolo Trattoria turned out to be! The service was warm and attentive and the food fabulous. My companion had the chicken milanese and I had the shrimp stuffed with crabmeat. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. The shrimp were served on a bed of sautéed spinach with a lemon/butter sauce. Portions were large and entrees come with a choice of soup or salad. The house salad was large, the vegetables fresh and the house dressing terrific. My companion requested several copies of the menu that she planned to give to family members who would be visiting her new home and looking for a restaurant in the area.
