I have never written a hotel review before, but felt I must write something about this place. Due to several special events in the area, this was the last room we could find for the night after stopping at several exits along the PA turnpike. I had not stayed in a Howard Johnson's since I was a child and this was a great disappointment. We were charged over a $100 for a room that did not have a functioning toilet, the decor was outdated, was poorly ventilated, not particularly clean and the carpet was so thin and worn it buckled up at places. A new jacuzzi was in the room which was perhaps the reason for the outrageous price. I would much rather have had a toilet that flushed than a jacuzzi.
Because we complained, we received a discount, which still did not reflect the poor quality and value of the room.

We got tired on the road and stopped here because we've never stayed at a Howard Johnson. The rooms were quite spacious, but we had to change rooms two times right after we arrived (around midnight) due to the rooms being too hot and the first two rooms not having individual a/c. Being pregnant, I NEEDED a/c. The third room had an individual unit and it took about 15 minutes before it cooled down enough (though not as cool as other hotels). It isn't the worse hotel I've ever stayed in but it's close. I do wish other hotel rooms were as nice and spacious at the lower price we paid for this room (though, not low enough even with RoomSaver coupon).

This hotel is not what we were expecting. At check in I was told the computer was down and they needed a PHOTOcopy of my credit card, both front and back. Absolutely not was my answer! The ice was melting off the roof of the building and refreezing when it hit the parking lot and sidewalk. The 20 steps from the car to the door were treacherous, at best. One of my daughters fell on the ice and hurt her knee. They had orange cones - but NO salt - to mark the incredibly icy path. We had two rooms that were adjoining. Both were supposed to be non-smoking. One was non-smoking, the other smelled horrid. The heaters in either room did not work. On low heat they blew cold air. We had to have them on high heat all day and all night long and the rooms were still chilly. The blankets on the beds were old and not comfortable. We found garbage (McDonalds bag full of ??) under one of the beds and someones winter glove stuffed at the head of another bed. To top things off, they adverstise free wireless internet, but the internet was down more than it was up. When it was up it was incredibly SLOW and we were frequently disconnected. This hotel was not clean, not pleasant and not worth staying in, ever again, for any price!!

The staff was friendly, and the b-fasts what I'd expect for $49.95/night (roomsaver, etc.) When they knew we were family of 7, they gave us adjoining rooms. Room was big and perfect for us, who just needed a place to lay weary heads. Everything was nice (though some wallpaper torn). But the staff were particularly nice. The night clerk was a little dim (gave you paper for the printer by the sheet), but the morning guy was fantastic and told me that McDonalds generally carried coupon books (must be PA only) - just to make sure I could get coupons elsewhere on our trip. B-fast typical w/waffle-make-ums. (Wonder if the bad review was the guy complaining he couldn't get his heat on in the 90+ weather.)

Filthy curtains, crumbs on windowsill..room not very attractive. Continental breakfast skimpy. Not worth the price we paid. Stayed here 4 years ago and very nice then. Now management not doing a very good job. So disappointed....Will not be staying there again.

We stayed here with 2 children (ages 4 and 1) for a trip to Idlewild. The hotel was nice especially for the price that we paid. The room was big enough to fit all four of us and the pack-n-play. All rooms either have a balcony or door that leads to the pool. Hot waffles and bakery every a.m. and the orange juice was not watered down. Close walking distance to McDonalds (24hours), Eatn'Park and other places to eat, next door to gas stations. About 35 minutes to the amusement park. I could nit-pick the place apart, but I think it was a deal for the price. We plan to stay again. My only real complaint is the pool was not heated like the website said.
