“Charming, nice experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

My husband made a reservation for our anniversary dinner here. He was never advised when he made the reservation that it was a BYOB and that they only accept cash and checks. When we arrived we learned these 2 things. They gave us directions to Stockton, NJ, right down the road to visit the liquor store and an ATM. While we appreciated the directions, we would have appreciated it more if we knew these things in advance. Parking is somewhat limited so on a busy weekend night it was a challenge to find a safe parking place.

We sat outside in their rear patio which was quite lovely since it was a nice evening. The only downside was, after dark, the mosquitos arrived and were bothersome.

Our meal was delicious, I had the mushroom soup, baked cod and a berry tart for dessert. My husband had the caesar salad, filet of beef and a lemon tart for dessert. Both dinners included a mix of vegetables and a fabulous mashed sweet potato side. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a nice evening with pleasant ambience.

“Great Anniversary Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

We had our 29th Anniversay dinner here last night. It was the perfect choice. The venue is very nice and charming. There was a good crowd for a Monday night. There were eight couples and a group of six. The noise level was perfect. We were able to have a conversation and hear ourselves.
We were warmly greeted and seated by our waiter. Brad was an excellent waiter. He was polite, attentive and prompt.
The food was excellent. We had shrimp bisque and sweet onion soups. Both were excellent. We shared the tomato mozzarella salad. This was very good. We both ordered the pork loin prepared two different ways. My wife had the pork with figs and mushroom sauce. My pork was wrapped in bacon and also had a different mushroom sauce. Both dinners had a nice mix of fresh vegetables.
The restaurant is BYOB and cash only.
Great for special occasions and general fine dining.

“Charming, simply charming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

Very romantic and charming restaurant. Food and service has always been top notch every time we have eaten here. Weather permitting sit outside on the back patio. For colder days ask to sit by one of the fire places. Great duck!

“George Washington ate here (or at least he should have)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

Our party of 4 had a lovely dinner at the Inn at Phillip's Mill. The building dates back to Colonial times and has tremendous character. We ate indoors but had a window view of the courtyard which is also set up for dining.
The restaurant is byob - while they offer only one style of wine glass, they do have champagne flutes and martini glasses (I also saw one table with wine in a decanter, which I presume was furnished by the restaurant).
The food was top-notch, with a good variety to please a broad range of tastes. Our table tried a couple of the appetizer specials (a chilled fruits de mer and a salad with duck) and both were excellent, as were the other appetizers (crab cake and crab salad). Two of our party ordered the halibut special and the other diners ordered lamb chops and a filet with blue cheese butter. Each dish was attractively presented, cooked to order and delicious. We finished off with a lemon tart and some mango sorbet - neither of which got the attention they deserved, given that we were all pleasantly sated by that point.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and not intrusive. This is a special occasion restaurant and being able to take one's time is (for me) at big part of the experience.
The bill, with a generous tip, averaged about $60 per person - it was worth it.
